Hello fellow ebayers,
This topic may have been covered in the past, but since I just learned the lesson, I thought I would share for those that may also not be in the know. I had a recent large sale of multiple items that came through as 3 separate sales. ( the buyer did not use the ask for new invoice feature ) Anyway I realized at this point that I had been charged the full final value fees even though I had give out a sizeable shipping discount. I called customer service and it was then that I learned when a partial refund is given, the system does not automatically adjust the final value fees. One must call and ask for the money back. At this point I have 18 refunds in process going back almost a year. The process has taken hours on the phone and multiple calls. I do get a fair amount of multiple item orders, and most times the customers do not use the ask for a new invoice feature, which creates this issue. I hope this is helpful for those that like me that did not realize this.
I am looking forward to getting back some of my lost profit.

It is in the Sell section in refunds.
IF a seller does a partial refund there is no refund of FVF.
It doesnt matter "why" the seller refunded, eBay doesnt refund FVF unless it is a 100% refund.

When a buyer pays without asking for a combined invoice and then asks for a shipping discount, I subtract the FVFs related to the refund before issuing a credit. I tell the buyer why I am doing that so they learn for the future. EBay isn't going to refund you because you didn't know how the process works.

I would be surprised e-Bay will refund you, especially back over the course of a year?
We had 1 transaction where e-Bay encouraged us to do a partial to resolve a bogus claim (we could deduct up to 50% based on bait/switch item received back) and e-Bay CS on facebook told us to refund only 50%.
We were told they would make a fee adjustment. They did not - after several attempts, we gave up.
Hope you are correct, but our experience has been they will not make a fvf credit adjustment.
Have you seen the credit(s) for all these transactions?

Thanks for the reply. I am told buy the agent that refunds will be issued. Time will tell. If in fact they do not then I guess I will have to switch to your method. And yes it was my bad for being ignorant to the process, hence why I made the post to help make others aware.

Come back and let us know if you receive the refunds.
They never had refunded fee's on partial refunds.

On occasion eBay will issue a refund to help out a seller who doesn't know the rules but they are few and far between. If you should be so lucky it will only happen once.

These fees used to be credited, but that was from Paypal and just their fees. For example, you refund $2.50 as a shipping credit. They would say that $2.33 would be coming out of your account and the 17 cents from Paypal's coffers. I was unaware ebay did not do the same automatically. Last week a buyer asked I refund extra shipping to his account, which I did because he sounded like he'd make trouble. Otherwise any extra is mine to keep. It is part of the whole transaction. Not calling ebay for forty cents.
I guess you could refund all their payments and then send an invoice.

Congrats!!!
I am taking this as a good sign that the powers that be are waking up.

that is the problem!
Nickel and dime the sellers while they are being honest and taking care of their customers! It can add up quick!
just a quick example. I don't have any solid data, but eBay is global. Say 20,000 daily transactions fall into this issue. Say the cost is only .25 (very low). That is $5,000 per day of extra free money for eBay.
They probably know that sellers are not going to call and wait an hour to talk to someone for .50 refund
I miss PayPal!
