I sold my first item on Ebay. Item cost was 200$ and buyer paid approx. 30$ more for shipping. When printed label, sent the item and buyer received it I received 170$ to my account. I was wondering why and then I read that approx. 30$ was for fees. After I read Selling Fees Policy and checked Transaction Details I figured out I pad 12,9% as a final value fee + a little bit extra for an international shipment. 12.9% final value fee applies for most of the categories and is up to 7500$ for sold goods. I read before, that charges for selling on Ebay are low, but it doesn't seems to me they are.

Well, that 12.9 % averages out to what you would have been paying had PP fees been included.

While there are likely places that things can be sold with "no fees" there are other places that are higher than the 15% that you paid.

Just curious since this comes up every day. How much did you expect to receive?
To me, ebay provides a whole lot of value for nothing until you make a sale and then the fees really are fair market.
P.S. I am not excusing the glitches, bad policy and problems the platform has but as it stands they have built a pretty decent machine. All my opinion or course.

The fees include the FVF plus the merchant service fees for processing credit cards and collecting any tax and paying the tax on our behalf.
It really is a good deal for sellers who don't want to track and pay all the different taxes for all the cities and states in the US.

"... I read before, that charges for selling on Ebay are low, but it doesn't seems to me they are..."
You read correctly. They are lower than 'most' auction style houses...
they are in-line with comparable platforms....
the fees have been virtually the same 12.9% for a few years.......(prior to MP they were 10% PP + 2.9 eBay)
so, you read correctly.......

And therein lies the problem. You should have read about fees BEFORE you put the item up for sale.
Don't feel bad though. Judging by the assorted posts on these boards a whole bunch of sellers never do any research. They just leap in. And then complain when reality hits home.
"Oh boy, this looks easy. I'll just in with both feet" said Tom lamely.

A lot of people don't seem to realize that. A few months ago my mother in law who absolutely knows I sell on ebay for a living asked me if ebay charges for their services, and my response was "I paid ebay $1382 last month."

The fees look right. Roughly 13% selling fees and 1.5% international fee gets you pretty close to that approximate 15% that you quoted.
Actually, your fees look low - $30 in fees on a $230 sale is just 13%.
