Feedback

So … I’ve sold for a few years here on eBay and frankly love it for the most part sold about 650 things and have had 100% feedback rating with about 590 there about positive fees back, never a negative until now  . I have an issue want to see if anyone might be able to shed any light.
I had a buyer post a very negative feedback. All was completely untrue . No communication from buyer before the feedback left.
so that’s it?? …. I just have to take it??
I asked for it to be removed…. eBay’s response NO doesn’t break any rules.
really  that’s it ?
I can sell something fairly, with little to no money made, and someone can ruin my feedback rating as a seller that I have gained by  working hard for several years now with one untrue comment?

Re: Feedback

Your listing stated $8.50 for shipping and they claimed that they paid $15.00 for shipping, unless I misunderstood your listing and their feedback. If I understood it correctly, they lied. Maybe try again and point out the lie. If they lied about that part, they likely lied about the rest, at least in my opinion.

Or did you ship it internationally?

Edit: spelling

Re: Feedback

It was $15 shipping flat rate for everywhere in the US. If you clicked on the item number in the feedback ebay took you to a 'similar' listing. You have to click on 'see original listing' to see the correct listing.

Re: Feedback

I'm sorry that happened to you.   99.1% is not going to really dissuade a future buyer.  Just in case a buyer actually cares about 100% vs 99% and they look at the feedback...   You can reply to the feedback, but keep it professional.

When responding to Negative feedback, I keep this in mind:

"You are not replying for the original buyer to see, you are replying for FUTURE customers to see."

The quality of reply can turn the negative around and show your professionalism and customer service to the next customer.

Re: Feedback

Your listing looked nice to me. Looked clean was not dirty as all the pics looked good. $15 for shipping an item of that size seems right. Your feedback speaks for itself. Its a bummer this happened to you but do not let it ruin you having fun on ebay. I sell for the same reason its fun for me. I wish you the best

Re: Feedback

You may be looking at the wrong FB.  The FB this OP received involved packing that appeared to the buyer to be composed of discarded household trash.  No mention of the shipping cost.

Re: Feedback

Am I the only one who saw the negative FB for the OP as involving the packaging, not the shipping?

Re: Feedback

The first question would be is the feedback accurate or is it possible the buyer left feedback for the wrong item, it happens. If the feedback is accurate then you have an issue to address. I would respond to the buyer in a civil manner apologizing for the packing you may go as far as to offer them a full refund on the purchase, which if you do you could also note in the feedback. Above all be civil when you do respond try to correct the situation not defend against it.

Yes, that's it. Those comments do not break any policies for feedback, it is the buyer's opinion. Many people are ultra-sensitive to smells and many people have an issue with simple shredded newspaper. There is no requirement for a buyer to first contact a seller, much less to tell them they are about to leave negative comments. Consider yourself lucky that you've had years of successful sales with no prior negative comments and concentrate on that. This will move to your second page soon enough, where no one will see it. Best of luck to you....

Re: Feedback

This doesn't 'ruin' your feedback, it's still good with lots of positive feedback. As above, a professional reply assuring future buyers of your good business practices is the best course of action - arguing with the neg-leaver serves no purpose. This person frankly sounds a little dramatic, so be very low key.

ETA: Still, I'm sorry you got it - it does go on and on.  But don't get discouraged!

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

Re: Feedback

"I regret you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return it for refund. "

This indicates to the few who read FB (as opposed to those who notice your 99% rating -- an A++ in schoolroom tests) that you are willing to make it right, but the buyer preferred to keep the item.  So how horrible could it be?

Generally, it is not useful to Respond to feedback, but parents do tend to be sensitive about children's stuff.

The idea is to make it appear that you are calm and professional, while she is OTT .

Re: Feedback

I am in the same boat currently, eBay WILL NOT help you (Seller). They’re a bunch of liars!!! I have transcripts with proof . I have been selling for a little under a year 100% feedback for 151 units over 92 shipments of this particular item. The post office lost the shipment and it’s pretty obvious. This package shipped thru 5 distribution center. I approached eBay and they came to the conclusion that I’m responsible for the carrier loosing the package. They lied to me and did absolutely nothing. I suggest going to Amazon or Walmart, I’m about done with eBay don’t expect any support

Re: Feedback

Since you are the only one, so far, has seen that negative FB as referring to the packing, why are there others who see the FB as being a complaint about the shipping cost?

Re: Feedback

@soh.maryl  I agree with you-the complaint was about smelly. dirty packing materials. It would be nice to hear from the OP about their version regarding the packing materials.
