Hello,

If I cancel a purchase can the buer still leave feedback?

I am talking about a purchase in the buy it now format.

Second question is, if the reason for canceling the buy is due to wrong shipping address or because the buyer asked to cancel, does it hurt the sellers rating in any way?

By "Any way" i am refering not just to the defect rate, but to the engines assesment of the seller.

Hello and thanks for the comment.

I was just wondering , because buyers every now and then ask me to cancel the order.

So I was wondering if I should just go ahead and cancel from my side, or perhaps ask them to request a canclation and for me to accept it.

Yes the buyer can still leave negative feedback.

 

As for the two reasons you listed no they cannot hurt the your defect right. However unless you get the buyer to agree to cancel they can call eBay and report you.

 

The same with the address issue unless there is a genuine issue with the address they can call and report you.

 

I know for a fact that eBay will issue a defect in this case because I called and complain about a seller who used the buyer wanted to cancel excuse when I didn't ask to cancel. A few days later the seller sends me a nasty message complaining the eBay had given him a defect because I called and complained and said that he lied.

Something gives me the unsavory impression that you're looking for a way to cancel a transaction without getting a defect. I sure hope that's not the case.

Yes you can get a negitive.  Take the time to talk to your buyer.  Best regards

Honestly with the amount of negative feedback you have and your feedback percentage I would probably not do anything to jeopardize your account at this point in time.

If a buyer does indeed REQUEST to cancel the order then you will not be penalized.

 

But as the others are saying, cancelling a transaction because YOU want to and providing that reason is not only dishonest but punishable by ebay via defect.

 

It only takes about 3 defects to completely lose all selling privileges on ebay, so be very careful about cancelling transactions unless it is INDEED requested by the buyer.

Also, why would they leave bad feedback if THEY requested to cancel it?

 

Something about all this just doesn't add up...


Can you provide us with some more details? Your initial post is quite vague..
