I’ve had 100% rating for over a decade on this account. I was just threatened with a negative feedback if I did not give a partial refund. I immediately contacted CS and was told not to worry, any negative feedback would be removed because item was about size and shown clearly next to a ruler. ( Diamond Huggies ) I refused the shakedown and ignored buyer once the extortion message came in. Neg of course was left claiming I enlarged pics ( on diamonds- lmao. Most buyers demand zoomed in pics to see clarity and color!) So I requested removal. Denied stating it was INAD - when no return request was opened for INAD???money back guarantee ??? I then escalated to the “ offline team” which immediately denied the request to remove because eBay didn’t want to get involved in a buyer’s opinion.
Another thing-I thought a buyer had to wait 7 days to leave bad feedback? Guess that changed too!
So I’m furious. I buy & collect way more than I sell. eBay is making 18% off my sales. Ended all of my listings, made FB private, returning items.
So beware. What stuck out to me was “ Buyers don’t expect to see 100% positive feedback “ in this new garbage update.
100% positive feedback is a reputation I’ve strived to attain and sustain. 1 buyer clearly violating eBay policy can ruin it with no recourse from a seller.

The problem is they will tell you anything to get you off the phone and furthermore aren't held accountable when you're misguided.
Asking for a partial refund is a way to get an item cheaper and you shouldn't cave. They should return it for a full refund if they aren't happy.
It used to be feedback extortion if they said if you don't refund I'll leave negative feedback, thus making it removable.
I don't know why eBay has stooped so low and let buyers get away with this horse manure.
Keep trying until you get a US rep with half a brain.

EBAY customer service reps are overseas and clearly do not understand "feedback extortion policy". You are correct that feedback should have been removed. You should try contacting EBAY rep in USA through EBAY's social media (Twitter and Facebook).
Good luck with this problem...

Did you report the feedback extortion or did you report the feedback?
The feedback is usually considered a matter of opinion and is rarely changed.
Demanding the partial refund or else is extortion and eBay takes that seriously.
I suggest you try again using the eBay employees (not call centre subcontractors) assigned to the social media accounts.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.
DO NOT RESPOND WHILE YOU ARE UPSET!!

Thank you. I asked over and over for a phone number but was never given one. I gave up social media years ago. Thank you for your kindness.

I feel sorry for you and agree with you that your negative feedback should be removed but in all honesty, I think you're overreacting just a little.

I reported the extortion immediately when it happened. CS rep read messages and agreed and told me not to worry if they left negative feedback. They assured me it would be removed. It wasn’t.

Thank you- Unfounded, false allegations. Overreacting? A buyer threatening negative feedback if you don’t give them a partial refund ?? Really??? Good luck getting it removed if it happens to you.

CS by chat and phones are not employees but contractors outsourced from another country.
Social media is the only way to connect to actual employees.
Since you gave up on social media I guess you won't ever talk to an actual employee and see what they say.
The contractors lie to you and tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone.

Thanks so much, really nice stamps. I appreciate your kindness.

Lovely. Good to know where my 18% is going. ( And yours ). So you’re saying I have to join FB ( META ) to resolve an issue of extortion with EBay? Ummm …
09-17-2024 10:10 PM
No guarentee they will resolve it but yes the social media team are at least actual employees.
You don't have to to Meta, could always use X. 🙂
@AskeBay
im not sure what company this size isnt outsourcing support. Amazon and Walmart are thats for sure.

It has happened to me, more than once even.
Unfair feedback is part of selling on ebay.
Ebay considers selling here a business.
Selling on ebay is not for the faint of heart.

Thanks for the kind words. Means a lot.

Just curious, can you copy and paste the exact verbiage the buyer gave you when they made this extortion? Maybe it actually doesn't qualify as such in ebay's eyes.
