Hi everyone. I had a buyer purchase 6 items from me in one order. They did NOT put them in their cart and ask me for a total which was clearly stated in the listings. Anyway, instead of $80.16 in shipping, it should have been $22.33. I refunded the $57.83 in overcharged shipping. So far, it has been about 24 hours since the partial refund, but I have yet to see any adjustment in eBay's fees. They are about to send me the gross amount of the sale, minus the partial refund, and the FULL amount of the fees they charged. Will there be an adjustment "down the road" that I get credit for, or did I just learn to NOT refund overpaid shipping to buyers?

There are no fee refunds for partial refunds.

The few times I have done a partial refund in MP, I always receive the fees portion simultaneously. Go to seller hub and look under payments. There you will see a separate item line for every transaction and associated fee. You should see any fees refunded there. Best of luck to you....

I've had that happen before and I did receive an adjustment. It's always best to do the refund. Less chance of a negative feedback. Best of luck in the New Year!

From what I have been informed by eBay and all the policies in "sell", giving a partial refund does not give you any fees back.
No matter what the reason is for the refund.

No, they don't refund fee's on a partial refund.

Lucky you. I only get fees back when I do a full refund. Hasn’t that been eBay policy for years?

Nope. No adjustment to fees, but does show the partial refund. Thanks anyway!

So, if you have a buyer who does not follow directions, does not request total from seller, and pays anyway resulting in a shipping cost that is over the moon, would YOU as a seller deduct your overcharged fees from the partial refund? It's pretty easy to calculate. In my case it would be $57.83 x 12.55% = $7.26

Yes, that is exactly what you should do in future.
The buyer will be grateful for the refund and doubtless happy to get a bit of a windfall LOL

It depends, if a buyer has asked about combined discounts prior to purchase and I give them a quote, I will stick to whatever was agreed.
If it's not discussed in advance I MAY reduce the refund 10 - 20% but even that depends on the items purchased and how much I am saving on shipping cost.
It's not that big of an issue most of the time, most of my buyers at least manage to get everything into the cart and make one payment so no extra 30 cent charge. If someone is spending $50+ and needs a partial refund that is going to cost me 50 cents in extra fees I don't sweat it, if they spend only spend $15 on three cheap items an d there is little extra savings for me from combining They might just get a reduced discount.
