Falsified information on listing?

I've never had any issues on ebay ever. With that said, I avoid ALL international locations and stick to us only. I looked at a listing my daughter asked for for christmas and it said Jamaica ny. Okay, cool that's USA. So, we bought it. Come to find the sellers location on the paid receipt was UKRAINE. But that's not just it. When it shipped it's through some zda express  partner that I've never heard of. Some digging says it's a CHINA company. I specifically avoid China above all other countries. Very unhappy. This is for christmas and from what I read it might be over a month despite it saying it's here next week. This will be reflected in any and all feedback this seller recieves. And yes, most of their feedback was positive. The neutral or negative complained about delivery which I thought ok post office gonna post office can't hold them accountable. Now, I get it. I feel ripped off.  And angry I didn't choose another gift for her.  Am I right about this being falsified info or is there something I'm missing here? I have never in my life seen anything like this before. But I'm very upset.

Re: Falsified information on listing?

No, you are not wrong and sellers from other countries can 'be in another country' but set up a 'warehouse' (shared, or small office or friends address for 'shipments') but then just ship it from their 'home country' because all they have to do Iwhich they don't really have to) is input the tracking number in the shipment.

I'm not sure HOW this can be stopped or known before purchasing. Hopefully someone will come along that knows a way. (besides obvious feedback which could mean nothing because they could ship 10 out of 11 items from 'New York' but when they 'run out' in NY, just ship from China or??)

@jennifenicksi0

A bit confused... you bought a "lodging"? What was the listing/item number? We could eyeball it. 👀

And yes, most of their feedback was positive.

So you bought from an overseas seller whose feedback rating is overwhelmingly positive and you are upset?

and from what I read it might be over a month despite it saying it's here next week.

You are covered by the Money Back Guarantee if it does not arrive by the last estimated date for delivery.

No matter what you may have read about delays.

The only problem is that you may get your refund by The Thing locally, then have The Thing arrive later.

Since you don't want both of them, you could ask the seller for a Return Shipping Label and send it back  or you could donate it - women's shelters are often looking for gifts for their clients at this time of year.

Re: Falsified information on listing?

I hear your frustration. I also don't like/trust sellers from quite a few countries and at least there should be some sort of guarantee the item would at least be shipped from inside the US or country listed. To buy something from NY and have it shipped from Ukraine via China is not acceptable to me either.

Of course you could always make them pay for return shipping?

Re: Falsified information on listing?

I wish there was a way to cancel like Amazon you can fully cancel until it ships. Here I couldn't. Yes, I looked if it was possible because once I saw the other country I didn't like it only because I wanted to assure it would be here in time for christmas. This makes me hesitant to buy off here again. I only buy for the holidays for my kids. No other time of year.

Re: Falsified information on listing?

I bought from a seller that said they were in NY on the listing page. I specifically avoided all overseas listings. But this person was dishonest about their location. When the receipt was sent it had their info as Ukraine. I would have never ordered had it not said New York. So, yes, I'm upset that I was not given accurate info.

I've never been in this situation before. Let's say it doesn't arrive within a month and I file a money back claim. What happens if I get a refund and the item shows later?

Re: Falsified information on listing?

You should be able to request a cancellation before it ships on ebay as well. Did the seller immediately do a label or generate a tracking #?

Re: Falsified information on listing?

I hate being 'that' person complaining but even for me this is warranting a complaint. At the very least reflecting this in the feedback when I leave it especially because there is a deadline for Christmas. The only hope is that the reviews did say it was fast shipping but how fast is fast when it's gotta clear customs and such first?

Re: Falsified information on listing?

Watch the tracking. It may be being mailed from jamaica NY regardless of seller's location. There's some reason ebay said it was coming from NY.

Re: Falsified information on listing?

It was listed as shipped within 24 hours which is good. But still. I guess at this point all we can do is wait and see and hope. Daughter is a little older so she will understand a little more if late, but this was her most expensive gift which kinda stinks. It's the big one she looks forward to every year.

Re: Falsified information on listing?

Well, to confuse things even more it says it's in Elk Grove Village which is a Chicago subburb 5 or so hours away. A 4th location.  And I dont believe it would instantly be there within a day of shipping if its a china shipper. I feel like more info is falsified there too, but I dont know enough about that to say for sure. It is definitely confusing, I'll say that much.

Many have more than 1 warehouse, so sounds like you may get it on time after all.

Also, as stated by another member, you CAN now cancel an order up to the time it is shown as 'shipped' (recent change, used to be 1 day, then 1 hour, now forever till 'shipped)- (although sellers can mark items as 'shipped' without tracking and then you cannot)

Re: Falsified information on listing?

The seller is using this ZDA service to get the item to USPS then USPS will deliver it to you.

This hides the true item location from buyers.

File that item not received case as soon as you estimated delivery date passes.

Go by your purchase and NOT the USPS date.

Lift your left leg at midnight to start off on the right foot. Happy new Year!
