This morning I checked to see that the accounts here were put in Free Returns since its June 1 ... and of course I was also expecting to see many, many sales because of this new policy but alas no sales and gee, am I in FREE Returns or not? The ONLY item I can find that is showing FREE Returns is an Auction that ends today ... which surprises me since once an item receives a bid we can't change things on the lsiting ... but low and behold, THAT item (pic below) is showing a FREE Return Policy and 60 Day return window.
The other pic is from another listing, NO FREE Return is shown. So, is the account in FREE Returns or isn't it?
As to the 60 Day Return Policy ... that is an ongoing glitch here ... last year I tested 60 Day returns to see if it increased sales, which it didn't so I changed everything back to 30 Days ... now, from time to time 60 Days shows up on Relisted items. The item below with the 60 Return was created last month and was relisted a few times through the Bulk Editor ... its like we have to check EVERYTHING all over again when Relisting. I can not get a handle on what items or categories the 60 Day Return setting crops up on but it slips through every now and then.

So mr_lincoln are you saying you didn't add free returns ?
When I display your listings and check off free returns on the left column it returns 10 items offering it.

@labs118 As always, thanks for replying ... you are correct, I have NOT slected FREE Returns for anything. Yet the one I found right away was the Auction which ends today but had bids PRIOR to June 1 ... so FREE Returns on that one was activated by Home Office. Now for the other 9, how did you find them in Search? I logged out, went to one of my items, clicked to see the rest but did not see the filter for Free returns ... is it over on the left? (excuse me if its there and I missed it). So I am curious why ONLY 10 items had it turned on and not all of them if the ID was put in to FREE Returns? I have NOT Opted out (yet), I wanted to see it go live and see if sales sky rocketed, quadrupled, went through the roof, improved over the weekend ...

Yep, found it (duh) & missed it the first time ... thought it was going to be under Free Shipping. Anyway, those 10 you found, I found them. 7 of them I have had for sale off and on for about a year, 3 are more recent.

I have NOT slected FREE Returns for anything.
Have you determined yet why you were "mysteriously" enrolled?

No, I have no clue why 10 items (which @labs118 found) were put in to Free Returns ... and the real baffling one is the Auction listing that had bids on it PRIOR to June 1. That means I could not change it if I wanted to. I will watch the other 9 over the weekend ... surely they'll sell having the Free Return Policy added right?
Anyway, I just relisted a number of items and Free Returns was NOT even a choice in the Bulk Editor - Edit Fields - Return section ... I also Relisted a few individually ... still not there.
They must be phasing items in that meet certain criteria as their system culls through IDs and listings and activates the Free Returns Policy ... my understanding is Sellers are put in it like Guaranteed Delivery opposed to being able to opt in ...

IMHO..."free returns" is a sucker's game.
Just like Promoted Listings...there is NO WAY to measure effectivenes.
For all the lemmings who disagree...look up "correlatation" and "causality".
Time will tell on Free Returns, my opinion is its geared more towards new items and commodities opposed to antique, vintage and collectibles.
As to Promoted Listings I've had good expereinces with that from the standpoint of driving sales or at least driving interest to items for sale. I've used it on 2 accounts. Last fall I put a decent amount of items on several campaigns ... sales were up 4th quarter. Since we get the $ 30 per quarter credit it was using free money. I did the same thing earlier this year in 1st quarter, I simply put every single fixed price listing up on a campaign at "X" % on 2 accounts ... sales dollars have been up over last year every omonth on one account, the other account is just over a year old so nothing to compare with but May was its best sales month ever. Its not so much the items that sell from the P.L. Campaign but its also the exposure one's account gets from people seeing something interesting, going to it, then seeing what else the Seller has to offer. I would love to see the sales path on sales and how people find them, that would be great info to have.

Out of curiosity has a new business policy been created for the Free Returns/60 days returns? If so, is the issue resolved if you totally delete it?

I have been selling on eBay under my selling ID since 2010. I have almost 2000 stars next to my ID, all positive feedbacks as a Top Rated Plus Seller. I have many wonderful repeat buyers and every now and then a new buyer will pop in. I have never once had someone return something. EVER. I have never had anyone ask for a partial refund. EVER.
I listed 1 item this morning from my template and forgot starting today (June 1) if we want to keep our yellow badge on our listings we must offer Free Returns.
It wasn't until I came here and read a post that I looked and saw the item I listed this morning had no yellow badge so ......... I revised the item and clicked Free Returns.
I have decided if, by being forced to select Free Returns (since I want to keep the yellow badge I earned) someone new decides to return something on my (or eBay's through August?) dime, it will be the very last time I ever list anything with Free Returns.

I decided to check my items as I didn't plan on doing free returns - found that 10% of my active items have free returns on the listings - so Ebay is going in and randomly assigning this to listings. I'm going to leave it and watch - the items to see their view and watch count for the weekend to see if indeed they sell when the other listings sit.
This may have been mentioned - but Ebay definitely doesn't want to deal with return squabbles anymore and I think it will be mandatory by the time Ayden fully takes over and Paypal is cut loose.

Is ebay doing free return labels across the board or invite only?
