Ebay watch authentication - How does the authenticator know where to ship the item?

Hi All,

Stressing myself out over this and really confused. Just recently sold a watch and shipped the package out using UPS, didn't dawn on me until after that there really isn't a reference to me the seller other than the return address. How does the Ebay authenticator know where to ship it to after the authentication since as seller, we aren't provided the buyers address? Is the packing slip required on these type of transactions ? Thanks

@jaknguye_1

I would think they can pull up the order via the tracking number once it delivers to them.

The packing slip is a good question- were there any directions for the program?

I haven't used it yet but may be in the future for handbags..

Hi pikabo, none that I saw. I'm currently on the phone with ebay CS as I type this, and they said the shipping label is what they will reference. Still feels odd that they wouldn't just require the packing slip, and instead have the seller search the shipping label?

For items shipped to a third party (authenticator, GSP, etc), there's an eBay reference on the shipping label that will pull up the transaction. They don't want to give you the buyer's address to make sure you don't bypass the process they put in place.

Thanks Sin, that makes sense. Now I have another issue...I went to UPS to have them print the label (wanted to add extra insurance that I didn't see in ebay's prepaid labels), and I'm staring at the shipment receipt and they added a number 7 that shouldn't be in the Ebay reference. My freakin luck LOL.

Do you think that will be fine or should I get this sorted out with UPS? UPS told me the package won't go out until Monday, so I can go tomorrow presumably to fix this still

Thank you.

That's what I was guessing  but it was a guess so I'm glad you confirmed it for @jaknguye_1

If it were me, I'd go get the package and fix it.

When you print your label through eBay, it automatically puts the reference number on the label.

I goofed once and printed a label with eBay Standard International shipping (when I meant FCI), so I got to see that they did this to identify my item and where it was supposed to go. But with eBay shipping they actually do give you the buyer's address on the invoice. I'm guessing with things going to an authenticator they don't provide that info (but I haven't sent anything there yet, so I'm not 100% sure).

Re: Ebay watch authentication - How does the authenticator know where to ship the item?

This new policy is a joke, sent several watches to this so called authenticator (ebay wont give you the name of the place or there contact info) only to be denied for bogus reasons, which were lies.

My advice dont sell high end watches on ebay.
