Sold a golf club, buyer paid shipping. Ebay settlement to me is incorrect. How do I dispute?

More likely you don't understand how eBay stays afloat as a business. You have to buy the shipping label, it comes out of your funds. You have to pay final value fees too, about 12.5% of the listing price, shipping and buyer's state sales tax.

When you sell an item on eBay, the buyer pays you the total amount of item price, shipping fee and state sales tax.
You then use the shipping fee that the buyer paid you to pay for shipping or buy a shipping label.
Not sure I understand why you believe that is not correct, or maybe I am misinterpreting your question.

I'm sure you understand the question the inexperienced seller expected at least $150 for the golf club. Wanted instant windfall. Probably didn't even watch the new video or hundreds of threads about the same situation, too busy, wanted an instant answer. Will be a handful of similar queries today.

The first thing eBay is going to ask you is what part of the "settlement amount" you think is wrong.
This will require you to give a complete breakdown of the entire transaction and point out the part that is incorrect.
It would probably save you time and aggravation if you post that complete breakdown here, and we can almost certainly explain why eBay did not make a mistake.
We would need to know:
Then we would need to know every line item that appears in the payout detail.

I think the only way to fix this is to have a big red warning sign next to the submit listing button with the estimated maximum amount a seller can expect to receive after fees using the furthest shipping or highest possible costs and state with highest sales tax for reference.

My rough calculation in my head shows that you should have received about $127 assuming a 10% sales tax that is included in the FVF. But shipping had to have cost far more than what it shows to me so I would guess the payout is significantly smaller. My guess is that your calculated shipping costs to the buyer was way off and that Ebay took the actual shipping to determine the FVF.

Can you be a bit more specific?

Shipping a golf club should be close to $30. You charged $10.00?

Wow, I see $8.22 shipping.

That's because you're closer to him than I am here in CA.

golf club shipping recently went thru an upheaval with pricing recently
there were a few sellers who are upset and know exactly what the deal is
the deal is that sometimes the UPS surcharges are not added to the total with ebay shipping
the settlement amount is easy to understand
first they add in the shipping and tax the total and then you are paid

Are golf clubs more than 30"?

Yes. Much longer than 30".

I would certainly think so, especially once you've added the necessary padding at either end.
The OP's listing shows Parcel Select as the shipping method. I think I would have listed Priority Mail as the shipping method (it's a $150 golf club; the buyer shouldn't suddenly start shrieking poverty over the shipping cost for it), and that would have enabled me to drop it into a 36" triangular Priority Mail tube. (If it's longer than 36" overall, I would telescope two PM tubes together as needed; it's going to incur an overlong fee anyway.)
If the OP would post the exact numbers to break down the sale costs, I'm sure folks here can run the numbers for him.
