I am having issues with eBay's Variation system It is not allowing me to add more options to a variation attribute I have already made. I already have 52 options for this variation attribute but for some reason it is giving me a error stating to use ebay attributes but I do not want to. There should be no issues with my attribute name as I used the same format for another listing and that one has 200 options.
You’ve created a custom attribute for item condition and/or grade. Please remove the custom attribute and use eBay’s item condition instead.{e163233-1238503x}

You want to add 52+ options to a custom attribute you created for item condition? Is that correct? Show us your other listing you have with 200 options for your custom item condition attribute so we can help. Thanks.

I have tried changing the attribute name many times from choice to DS#2,Game option since a older forum post recommended this.

Also would like to add I did at first use the same attribute name as the 1st listing for the second one and it gave me the same error. Also did go through both trying a sell similar listing and a fresh listing.

I have the same issue, and I can't find a solution. =(
Adding even 1 quantity or editing anything at all results in that error. I don't wanna spend countless hours remaking the ad, just to have this mysterious error show up again out of nowhere.

I'm having this issue as well on a multi-listing I've had for nearly 2 years. Anyone come up with a solution?

Same issue here. What is the update from Ebay?

This usually happens when (for whatever reason) ebay changes the ebay attributes for particular categories.
I've had MV listings for years where it happily used the attribute "character" or "Color" and then ebay changed it so the seller is unable to use that particular 'custom' attribute any longer.

Those are not variations, they are different games.

Exactly what I was thinking!
This is not really what variations listings are for.
But knock yourself out.

Yeah, didn't look at the OP's listings before I posted, but I doubt ebay will allow either "Choice" or "Game" as an attribute these days.

I was helped by "Karen H" on expert seller support. She helped me figure out that it is talking about the text you add to the "attribute field" (under variations) when describing the variables. You'll need to change the Variation Attribute to something like "Condition of Widget" or "Used Widget" (don't use widget, use the actual item name 😊 ).

Your listing for the different Xbox items, those are not variations.

I agree with you @kensgiftshop , however they changed the rules at some point. It apparently allows this now. At least I could no longer find it called out in the rules. Maybe you'd have better luck than I did.

I took another look at your listings.
Do you realize how much time you are wasting by creating a variations listing for 200+ different games?
Again, that's not was variations listings were intended for.
In my opinion, it would be so much faster (and easier) to...
Create a listing for one game.
When you list it click on "sell similar".
Change the name of the game and the picture.
When you list it click on "sell similar" again.
Repeat.
