So Ebay is Promising Delivery of items with Media Mail and Economy Shipping
To ship in TWO DAYS!!!
First of all i am mostly a Buyer on Ebay
however i do sell a few items from my home here and there
I am Frustrated as both a Buyer and a Seller
I recently noticed that promised delivery of items i buy here on ebay is often Not fulfilled
then i realized why
I for instance have a handling time of 2 business days
YET i have books that will ship media mail being Guaranteed by Fast and Free to arrive in 4 days from a night time purchase..
Are you kidding??? Seriously?? thats not accurate at all!!
i purchased a dvd set from a seller last december it didnt arrive for over a month!!!
it was not the sellers fault not ebays fault either it was because USPS put all media mail on hold last December
and didnt mail it out until after Christmas nevermind that i purchased it the first of December
Also Economy shipping..Ebay Guarantees Economy Ship will arrive in 2 days..Really??
Then why do we even offer the more expensive guaranteed FAST priority mail??
Priority actually does arrive on time ..i have purchased enough to know it does
But this business of Ebay promising the slow economy or media snail mail will arrive even Faster than priority is really aggravating!!!
I Love Ebay and i just want myself and anyone who purchases something from me to have FUN!!
Ebay is a Fun place to me but not with this nonsense going on!!
How can i opt out of Fast and Free on the items i have for sale that offer the media mail choice?
Can i even opt out anymore??
Does anyone know?

This is going to be driven by a couple things.
First make sure your USPS choice is Economy shipping NOT Standard shipping if you want the extension of time for Media Mail.
Second, when you view one of your own listing and it tells you it is Fast and Free, it is saying that to you because of the zip code of the account you are viewing the listing with. So when you view your own you may see more Fast and Free listings than the guy on the other sided of the country from you. It is zip code driven. And the zip code is taken from the account that is viewing the item.

you are the one that decides how you want to ship when you create your listings, i suggest leaving a day or two extra when doing this just in case a unforeseen issue should arise ? don`t burn yourself" good luck!
Having extra days on the handling time won't help as eBays estimate calculate how quickly a seller usually ships out despite the handling time
my suggestion is don't worry about the fast promised delivery time. eBay is responsible for any buyer issues related to it. And if you fail to meet that time enough the only punishment is they extend the estimated delivered on future listings

No you can't opt out of this Fast N Free
I can't see Fast N Free to me in NJ but changing to a TN zip I do see it & it is surprising they are putting it on your Media Mail

We can estimate the item's delivery date as four business days or less based on your handling time, the delivery service you've offered, your location and the buyer's delivery address
How to qualify for Fast 'N Free
If Fast 'N Free logos aren't showing on your listings, here's a few things you can do to help you qualify:
Offer free delivery and an expedited delivery option ( Surprised they have this on Media )
Offer same-day, or one-day handling
Always upload your item's tracking details

I looked at some of your free shipping listings, this is what I see for one of your books using economy shipping:
That's in line with what I would expect to be shown.
The only fast 'n free items I see are the ones using Priority or First Class as a shipping method.
I'm in northeast MS near Tupelo, so about 200 miles away. A Media Mail package from you to me in reality would get here in two or three days unless something unusual happened. The normal route would be from you to Memphis to me (two days) or you to Chattanooga to Memphis to me (three days).

All this is very nice, but it's an algorithm !!
The USPS is human and machines. They break down, make mistakes, held up for weather etc.
All that means is that eBay's "fast" and "guaranteed" delivery is a suggestion at best.
But the buyers think it is GUARANTEED !
So, let eBay pay the damages when a buyer starts a case against you because USPS took their time delivering

The guaranteed delivery has a seperate place for reporting that does just that. eBay gives out a $5 voucher or if the seller has a return policy eBay pays the return shipping for a return

Very Enlightening Responses from Everyone
Thanx So Much!!
Yes i forgot to change the zip
Several items i purchased the past few months on ebay did not arrive to me when Ebay Promised
Seemed particularly a problem in December and in March
I Never fault the seller as it seems to have Nothing to do with the Sellers
I just give 5 stars for their effort to get it to me on time
And i think media mail is fine its Great for the large amount of books i purchase
I have shipped out a few items to my home state and they did arrive quickly
i have not had a late shipping complaint
So Yes that zip code issue i overlooked the Obvious !
As for December I would like to Avoid using media mail for selling or buying next December it was disappointing
Thank You EVERYONE for your Generous Advice!
