Ebay Bucks Program being RETIRED

So, I just got the message on another account that Ebay is retiring the Ebay bucks Program starting April 1st.  Yet another perk down the drain. Any thoughts?

Ebay Bucks Program being RETIRED

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to retire the 1% earnings reward on everyday purchases starting April 1st, 2021.

No bucks for you....LOL...missing the "good news is.." paragraph, just like me.

Well there must be even a 3RD EMAIL that was sent out because here is the one I received:

Thank you for being a Bucks member, and a valuable part of our eBay community. We’re reaching out to tell you about upcoming changes to the eBay Bucks program.

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to retire the 1% earnings reward on everyday purchases starting April 1st, 2021.

Even though these rewards are ending, you can still enjoy savings and deals on the brands you love. Plus, all the exciting finds you’ve come to expect on eBay: from the rare to the retro to the right now.

Sincerely,

The eBay Bucks Team

Does not really matter to me as I hardly ever BUY on eBay anyway. Unfortunately just never the best deal on the things I am looking for.

Yes, I got that exact message too.  "you can still enjoy savings and deals on the brands you love"  which is basically weasel-speak for ,"Yes, 'bucks' program is gone, seeya, never-to-return, we will not be rewarding you for loyalty."

I think it's just a cliché bean-counter decision to eliminate the loyalty program as it means less revenue for the company.  Frankly, I was surprised they even had that program to begin with.

EBay after careful consideration is retiring or modifying their buyer stimulus package (  bucks program),

the removal or downsizing of buyer perks in this economy may prove to be unwise.

I am wondering if they are trying to thin out the amount of participants in the program???  Keeping some in while the ones who do not buy much are weeded out of the program...???

If so, they should have told the ones who got the better email to be quiet about it...LOL!!!

I got both versions...my selling acct got the goodbye version while my buying acct got the "promo" version.

Too bad I did dig the Rewards programs but got to admit wasn't buying much lately.

Reminds me of when someone accidentally uses the "Reply to All" email function and gets outed making inappropriate remarks about one of the other recipients. LOL!

@comics-scifi-collectibles Thank you for the tag. The information on the updates to the eBay Bucks Program can be found on the FAQ page here under "Earning Bucks".

I'll pass along the feedback about the confusion over the different e-mails received to the right team.

Brittanie,
Community Team

BTW...My saved photos on my profile page is not uploading...yet another glitch???

I have the snarkiest laughing little emoji in there...it was from their old emojis that they deleted.

That's okay...I still have it saved on my computer - 16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif - BOOM!  LOL!!!

brittanie@ebay

According to your link, my account qualifies to remain an active participant in the eBay Bucks program, but I received an email that DOES NOT include the paragraphs about the revised program.

  • You have a US address tied to an eBay account and the account is in good standing (no holds or suspensions)
  • You have an eBay account registered on eBay.com

So, my questions are as follows:

  1. Did I receive the wrong version of the email?
  2. Will we all receive a CORRECTED version of the email?
  3. Will there be any explanation as to who REALLY still qualifies for the program and who doesn't?
  4. Will there be any accountability for sending out the different versions of the email, some of which were apparently sent incorrectly? Or will it be passed off as our "confusion over the different e-mails."

Also, brittanie@ebay, if you could also explain the apparent discrepancies between this page:

Earning and using eBay Bucks

And the page you link in your earlier response.

eBay Bucks Frequently Asked Questions

The first linked page refers to an "invite."

"Self enrollment in eBay Bucks program is currently closed, however you may still receive bonus offers by invite. When bonus offers are available, you’ll see them in the eBay Bucks section of My eBay. You’ll also see information about bonus offers when you view and purchase qualifying items."

The link you provided says nothing about an "invite," but does set out criteria for "eligible participants." Which is it?

Enrollment

Can anyone participate?

Self enrollment in eBay Bucks program is currently closed. All eligible participants must meet the following qualifications:

  • You have a US address tied to an eBay account and the account is in good standing (no holds or suspensions)
  • You have an eBay account registered on eBay.com
