Hey guys, so I recently went through a buyer trying to claim the box they received was empty.
When the buyer opened the case, I immediately suspected they were lying because of the low amount of feedback & the fact that I packaged this item very well.
When looking this issue up, most sellers LOSE these cases and lose their item to scammers because eBay usually sides with them.
I’m here to share what helped me win my case against this scam.
1. CONTACT EBAY SUPPORT THROUGH THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE! They are much more helpful & understand these cases much more. Tell them all of the information that leads you to think they are lying.
2. CHECK THE DELIVERY ADDRESS & GOOGLE IT! IF your item was delivered to a 3rd party post office (like most of these scammers), let eBay support know through Facebook and they will likely end the case in your favor. Delivering to 3rd party postal spots voids seller protection because anything can happen there without our knowledge.
3. As soon as the buyer opens the case, message them and let them know you’ll be contacting their local police department and post office to investigate mail rifling that went on with their package. Let them know that they have to keep the “empty box” so an investigator can inspect it. Tell them you will get to the bottom of this. This might scare them away and possibly make them not want to continue fighting the case.
This is what I’ve learned in my experience & figured I’d post this to help other people out against these scams.
EBAY, PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE SO US SELLERS DONT HAVE TO SUFFER MORE LOSSES! Thanks!

You do realize eBay has no idea what the purchaser received???
So how can they fix it??

@iart
Buyers using the freight forwarder addresses to scam (empty box SNAD is very popular) could care less about any "police report" or " USPostal Inspectors". Most of the ones pulling this or the 'cheap trinket' scam are in the Russian Federation, and would likely laugh at the threat of being reported to the police in Delaware (Texax, Oregon, etc. )
The OP, @hguzman7 , is correct when he states using the eBay for Business FBook reps often helps victims of this well known scam where regular customer service simply throws the seller under the bus because "the BUYER provided a police report'. Typically, these documents are fake and will NOT be shared with the seller so they can see the evidence used against them. Perhaps the eBay for Business reps DO check it out, or the buyer ID simply had 'too many' empty boxes arriving in Wilmington.

No, delivering the package to a freight forwarder doesn't void their MBG.
The buyer could work there or live close and have their packages delivered there.

For my case it caused an immediate decision in my favor.

Basically, you are correct. However, if the seller can "prove" the item has been forwarded, then the MBG becomes void. Typically, if you are the 'sender' you can call the forwarder and find out yourself. If the said forwarder won't provide written documentation, then it can't be proven.
Does anyone actually think that an outsourced CS rep is going to call the forwarder on behalf of the seller? Could be that the higher tier reps can do that, and close uphold the rule of voiding the MBG.
Keep in mind the MBG and its rules and protections are ONLY for eBay claims, not Payment Disputes (aka chargebacks).

I like #3 also. Getting an email like that should scare off most of the scammers. Would even be fun to write & send that message!

How can anyone say such nonsense with a straight face?

@hguzman7 Thanks for posting so that others can hopefully read this. Good on you for taking initiative and making an attempt at resolving your issue. I'm one of those who push people to turn to Facebook just to get a solution to the problem.
More and more people keep coming onto this forum with the same issue but are also quick to complain because they hate Facebook, or don't want to open an account. The point should be to get a resolution, not getting stuck on how bad FB is. I don't have a Twitter account but if that becomes the only manner in which to get a good contact to eBay, you bet I will open a Twitter account. They can just delete their account afterwards, nothing is permanent....

Perhaps you should ask the eBay staff that gave this information in the first place.

Easy.
Like I said, just delivering to a freight forwarder doesn't void the MBG.
You have to have proof it is being reshipped from there, then they could loose the MBG.

< because they hate Facebook, or don't want to open an account >
I hate Facebook and don't want to open an account. But because eBay has forced that on us as the only way to make contact with knowledgeable reps (well, also Twitter, but I hate that too), I have to exercise, as Joseph Wapner used to say, "more than ordinary care" in choosing sellers. So far so good, knock wood.

They could do hundreds of things or a single thing...anything really would be an improvement.
