EBay’s Changing Practices

I am so frustrated with EBay’s lack of direct communication with its Sellers. I just sold a set of candlesticks. Unbeknownst to me, EBay changed my shipping policy on the item before it sold. I always charge customers for shipping. When it sold, it came up as “4 day free shipping”. I NEVER take 4days to ship nor do I offer free shipping. Once it sold, I was forced to incur $17 in shipping charges that came right out of any profit I made, which wasn’t much. EBay offers no way to talk to a live body. They have no online chat even though they advertise they do. They don’t have a category to address my concern. It’s defrauding both customers and sellers. Your reputation in the community is horrific. Why don’t you address it before we get a class action lawsuit going?

Unfortunately it looks like the forums have changed for the worse. We can no longer see your feedback history or what you sell. Without seeing that no one can help sellers anymore because we cannot see the listing you describe. Everyone will just have to take the OP's word for everything they say.

@kkruegerlee

Item 283801095593 was indeed listed as free shipping. You have about 100 other current items with free shipping and a few sold items as well. I checked 4 of the current listings and they are also 3 day free shipping. (one was a pyrex bowl, if that's any help)

This could happen when a seller selects another listing to SELL SIMILAR. We have no way to know how free shipping appeared, I'm just offering that as an example.

4-day shipping means the buyer gets it in 4 days.

Is this something new or a glitch?

I took my own info and replaced the "inhawaii" with the OPs username.

Whether you put it there or not, it is your responsibility to check and double check your listings for accuracy or mistakes.   Mistakes like offering free shipping when you had no intentions of doing so.

EBay’s Changing Practices

I have found this type of situation is almost always human error on the seller's part.  As a previous poster noted, the most common error is not to change specifics after using sell similar from the listing of another seller.  It has happened to me many times over the past two decades.  I usually spot it, but not until after a few slip by.  Just last month I listed a few small inexpensive items that happened to have the useless bold listing checked off.  Nothing like paying $4 for a bold listing on an items you are selling for $4.99.   Look, I am a vocal critic of Ebay on many specific issues, but in all likelihood it was your error and in all likelihood Ebay will do nothing about it.  May I suggest not wasting your time on the matter.

I had one on a "Sell Similar" from one of my own listings the other day. The original listing had had a flat shipping of $6 because the weight was 14 oz; the other version of the item I was listing was slightly lighter at 12 oz, but I forgot to change the shipping from flat to calculated.

On June 2nd (this listing has quite a few revisions), it shows you revised the Shipping Terms and BIN Price.

Using templates instead of listing from another listing eliminates a lot of these 'ooops'.
