EBay USPS Label Issue

Have any of you had issues with your shipping labels lately?  I have three packages that went out last week that the buyers contacted me and said that USPS told them they had to pay $19.00 to receive the package.  I told the buyer to refuse the packages because there was something wrong.  Upon investigation, I can see that I paid for the labels, printed them through ebay, but the labels say "no surcharge" under Pitney Bowes Commerce, at the top of the label.  This is where the dollar amount I paid for shipping is usually at.  Now the USPS won't let me accept the packages back until I pay the $19.00.  I contacted Ebay and the guy I spoke to did not understand the scope of this issue and after 38 minutes and explaining the issue 10 different ways so he could understand....he said, "just have the buyers call ebay and we will take care of it".  I explained that that is not a solution as the USPS is saying that the labels didn't match the package and someone has to pay $19.00 for the package I already paid shipping on through your site.  Please tell me that someone knows who I should contact or how to resolve this issue!!!!!  HELP!!!

Receipts !!! If you bought and paid for the postage then you have receipts. Take your receipts to the post office and match them up to the packages.

You sent out packages to three different buyers, and each of them got hit with a $19 insufficient postage fee?

How did you ship them? I see some items sold that have 5.50 priority mail listed - nothing ships for 5.50 priority.

If you look up the tracking # on USPS, it will tell you the service that you shipped with. And possibly why there are any additional charges.

I haven't had any issues like that but I know someone who sold an item on another platform and was told they owe additional money for shipping. The person took their package with prepaid label to the post office and the postal clerk somehow entered the wrong weight on the receipt.  The person didn't notice the error until they went back and checked their receipt after they were told they owe in excess of $12 more for the package. The package weighed something like 10 ounces (polyester polo shirt) but somehow the receipt showed the item weighed 3 pounds.

There was nothing the person could do but pay the additional money since that was the weight (3 pounds) entered on the receipt for that particular package.

This is just one more thing sellers need to be aware of although as I said it has never happened to me.

...did you enter correct weights when purchasing your shipping labels...?...I have seen people shipped a 3lbs 10oz package with a First-Class Rate package label of 3oz...or people dropped off a pre-printed shipping label for a large package weighted almost 8lbs with Priority Small Flat Rate label...and verse versa...

...you are dealing with Postage Dues...

...shipping cost from USPS involves with weights, volumes, distance (Zones)...First-Class Package Rates used to be flat rate but it's no longer since the beginning of 2018, it prices by Zones now...let's say if you live in California which will be zone 1 and ship your item to New York is zone 8, the shipping cost is almost $1 more than shipping in the same zone 1 (California, Oregon, Washington)...

...most receivers don't want to pay Postage Dues...and since this virus crisis, some mailmen don't bother to knock the door to collect the different shortage of postage but automatically return the package to senders...

...Pitney Bowes says NO SURCHARGE for sizes (boxes) when correct weights and zones were entered, USPS Priority Flat Rates boxes, Pre-paid returning package labels, or for Commercial Priority shipping...

...have a postal scale for your shipping needs...it's only $30...any weight exceed than 1 oz then you better round up to the next ounce...USPS scales is slightly different...just be well-paid attention...!

...don't mean to correct you but if someone drops a pre-paid  shipping label package at PO and asks for a confirmation receipt, a clerk at the PO has to inspect the weights, size of the package then compares to the shipping label, any incorrect information will be informed in front of the customer...the clerk will either collect more money for the shortage of postage or refuses to accept it...

...in your friend's case if that clerk accepted the package, regardless whatever weights he/she entered that package was passed the inspection unless your friend used the Commercial Pre-Shipping Account...
