E-Delcon & Tracking Issues

So I had a few sales this past week... and all of them don't have tracking. (UK, Austria...) I was checking on Stamps.com and it seems the service isn't offered anymore, or maybe I need to do something to make it trackable.

Has anyone else noticed this? Your tracking will start with LJ or LK... if printed on eBay, they state right away there is no tracking on the service.

For now I've suspended non-USA/Canada sales until I figure this out... some of my items are too expensive to lose if there's no tracking.

Re: E-Delcon & Tracking Issues

Can you use the global shipping program and only ship to the countries covered? You are in Canada so you may not be able to.

What I do, if insurance is necessary, is to use light packet and insure with Insure Post.

I make sure I charge enough for postage and insurance and do not mail to any country they will not insure.

It cuts a lot of sales but also prevents losses. Tracking only protects you from INR cases and then they could still file INAD any way.

Are you getting a lot of INR claims?

Re: E-Delcon & Tracking Issues

I've actually had 3 UK sales over the past month ... they all tracked perfectly with First Class International.

What service are you selecting?

I see no indication either here or on the USPS site to suggest that e-DELCON tracking on First Class International packages has been discontinued. You can see the list of participating countries on the USPS site here:

https://pe.usps.com/text/imm/immc2_022.htm

(Just to be clear, you specifically mentioned the UK and Austria above. The UK does participate in e-DELCON tracking, but Austria does not. If you meant to type "Australia" above, they do participate.)

Even with no tracking (from before the courier to New York), I had about 5 INR a year. Now I have zero for USA, and the odd random one in Canada. The international buyers aren't filing INR when tracking goofs and doesn't show delivered.

The issue will be OK when I sort things out with the items that are under $10 (so long as the buyer doesn't mind the high shipping for Canada Post).

My issue is that I have coins worth $200 plus dollars that will be highly coveted in the UK, but I cannot afford (based on my cost) to risk an INR.

I'll figure it out, I'm just wondering what happened to this service, or am I doing something wrong when printing the label? I've had issues in the past couple of months so I haven't been up on my eBay news recently.

Cheers, C.

First Class International. It says on eBay check out that this service does not provide tracking and delivery confirmation. The barcodes are now LJ or LK instead of LZ like before. I tried going onto Stamps.com (a secondary way for me to ship) and I'm getting the same thing there.

It appears this has started in July... if that helps.

My last four First Class International packages (May and June) were to the UK, France, and Germany - and all four show online delivery confirmation.

Others were France and Italy, which I heard were suspended, but I had no problems with tracking there a few months ago. Didn't mention it because they are known to be suspended. I didn't realize Austria didn't participate.

I'll check again on the UK. I was checking this out on Stamps.com but may not have been doing that right. I thought I checked Australia to quote postage for someone and it wasn't trackable. It's entirely possible the issue is with me, not the service. There have been a number of weird things that happened in July relating to eBay, and perhaps if eBay sees me as a Canadian seller now, I don't have the same access to services. (But that doesn't explain the Stamps.com... for them, I guess I can call and ask). It's always good to be able to print your postage several ways.

I didn't have problems until July... can you follow up when you do your next one and let us know?

I thought I had a July one ... but it was actually June 29 ...

LZ410432103US

Delivered in 6 days FL, U.S. to the UK.

I have noticed that there have been interruptions in the USPS online tracking site this past week and there is a notice up on USPS.com that some services are undergoing maintenance ... I think that they are in the middle of an "upgrade" ... maybe that has something to do with it?

Sin ... I almost forgot ...

On your more expensive coins, it might be worth it to ship Priority Intl, since that definitely tracks.

Just because a buyer can claim INAD at any time for any reason does not mean they will.  And it would be disrespectful to one's customers to assume that all buyers will try to rip you off with a bogus claim just because they can.

Odds are good that those who would pull such shenanigans are the minority, and the majority of buyers here are just wanting to shop for whatever they are shopping for, and would not even consider trying to pull a fast one on their sellers in order to either get around a no returns policy or buyer pays return shipping on remorse claims policy.

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.
