E-Bay is a great place to buy sports cards but not sell (Fees /Shipping are brutal) .I prefer to buy on Amazon items are mostly cheaper and free shipping with Amazon Prime . From now on I'll buy sports cards only not sell sports cards anymore .(Kijji ) is the better option .And forget about buying other Items on E-Bay .Thank you Amazon . Sad because Iv been a buyer/seller for over 20 years.

It's always funny when people think they're getting free shipping with Amazon Prime.

Well, yes and no. Prime comes with a whole lot of perks. How Amazon uses Prime Funds is rather unknown to the subscriber. But for example when Macys says free shipping it IS free shipping. They dont cost shipping into the product as they cant, they're a consignor and thus price points are set down by the distributorships in accordance with manufacturers hence why we have MSRP. That system all exist so I dont go and put you're store down the street out of business buying same popular products you sell at the store and pricing them intentionally to put you out of business. Variances happen when for example something delists, so all of a sudden its clearance and as a delisted product the distributorship now is offering them at delisted prices offering price protection across the variance.
For Macy's that free shipping is cost of doing business... Write off. If collecting shipping then its not, its revenues.

Yes, well, I don't know anything about Macy's, but I do know how Amazon uses Prime Funds. They use them to cover the "free shipping."

Not to be snarky, but 22 sales in 23 years may not have given you an accurate idea of profitable Ebay sales. Tho you certainly had a few very good sales more than a year ago.

To be fair, he's had 31 sales in 23 years.

I stand corrected.

There is no such thing as free shipping because someone pays for it. Either the seller includes the cost of shipping into the price of the item or the seller eats the cost.
eBay doesn’t have shipping it is sellers who use USPS, FedEx DHL and UPS none of those shippers ship for free.
As for free shipping with amazon prime, you are paying for shipping with the prime monthly subscription plus sellers include shipping costs in the products they sell.

"Free shipping with Amazon Prime" = $140/year. 😂

Shipping prices have absolutely nothing to do with eBay.
eBay fee's are very low and should be the very last thing you should be worried about.
"Free shipping with amazon prime", Not totally free shipping. Comparing Amazon to eBay is like comparing your spending habits to congress's spending habits. Amazon is absolutely, 100% nothing like eBay whatsoever; completely in its own league.
"Sad because Iv been a buyer/seller for over 20 years." I would be sad to if I randomly quit something for no reason at all lol. Very weird but okay.
Good luck and have fun!

Im not saying shipping fees are E-Bays Fault there just higher because sellers are trying to recover some of their cost . Which is passed on to the consumer . And E-bay Fees are way to high Iv bought and sold for over 20 years I know it is what it is ( Do you work for E-Bay LOL)

@jerryski59, I noticed the "Canada" tag in your original post. Are you comparing purchases made from Amazon that are shipped within Canada from its Canadian warehouses to purchases you make on eBay from US sellers operating mostly out of home-based businesses? If so, that's an apples and oranges comparison.
Also to add to the other comments about Amazon Prime's "free" shipping, a bit of internet surfing (Does anybody use that term anymore?) on my part suggests that observers feel that even with the Prime fee, Amazon is still treating its shipping service as a loss leader or just operating it at a loss, period.
