Dubious Practices - Tax Not being Automatically Refunded

I just had to contact eBay to ask for the tax portion of a refunded purchase to actually be returned to me. The purchase was cancelled in late October. So it's now been over 5 weeks.

I find this very, very dubious. Software can be configured to do this kind of thing instantly, so why wasn't it?  Why should I have to keep watching for weeks to see if it did get refunded as a separate payment to me?

This kind of behavior from any company is unacceptable.

Were you the buyer or the seller in the transaction?

@carandles   I agree 100%. As a Seller I have advised Buyers that any related Sales Tax will be refunded directly by eBay as THEY collect and remit it to the states ... it's their baby, if they are not doing it they need to be held accountable, since they said they would ...

I am the buyer. Yes I know this is in the 'selling' group but it's just as relevant.

@carandles   You are just fine where you posted your thread ... the other member wasn't sure if you were the Buyer or Seller for some reason ...

The reason was because the OP didn't say either way.

As a seller, I have not experienced a refund since the facilitator sales tax was added to PayPal, and I've only been in MP for a week so I have no experience with refunds there either.

I was just curious whether this was something that as a seller I should keep my eye on.

(As a buyer, I am in New Hampshire so I don't pay sales tax on purchases.)

So it's now 12 days since I asked for the refund and was told it would be refunded within a few days.

I'm, still waiting.    I think I need to look at using apple or goole pay wherever I can instead. See if they can be trusted more.
