Divorces?

Has anyone ever listed like a lot of old family photos or something with someones name on it, and had someone contact them claiming they got divorced and the husband/wife kept it?

Divorces?

All pre-owned merchandise comes from somebody who is getting rid of it.   The reasons can be almost anything from divorce, closing the estate of a deceased family member, to just doing routine spring cleaning which includes cleaning out the closets this year.

I expect occasionally somebody stumbles upon something that once belonged to them or a family member.   It might be fun for them to buy the item back.   Or in the case of divorce, maybe not.

Divorces?

a little difference then a divorce but somewhat on topic.

i brought a very old german bible (late 1800's) from a goodwill store in a so-so condition. . Listed it here and i showed a few pages that were damage and the inside cover page normally blank had a handwritten  name and a paragragh and then another signature at the bottom. I cannot read german but looked like someone gave this bible to someone else as a gift. the other side of that page had names with birthdates and deaths on it.

I was contacted by a guy wanting to know how i got that bible. Told him where i got it from, what town and the state. he doesn't have a clue how it got there seeing his family grew up on the east coast.

He has been trying to locate that bible for years  asking family members about  it and thought it was long gone. he remembered it being in the family when he was a kid and so does the rest of the family but no one seemed to remember what ever happened to it.

Then it appeared on ebay one day by me, cross country.  i had extra room in my selling title so i had the family name that was written inside in my listing title and he just happened to be searching by his last name to see what pops up and that bible did.  He was happy to get it back.

Divorces?

another incident i went to a storage unit auction instead of the auction down the street from me. i hap hazardly looked through the stuff and decided the storage unit would be the better gamble that day and went there.

the auction close to home was an older couple that died a few years apart and the family decided to sell everything right after he died. alot of things didn't sell, like the old  used but not antique furniture.  Anyways a friend was there and he was looking at some of things that didn't sell. One was a desk.

Found out they never took anything out of the drawers of anything. In one of the desk drawers was pictures of some very young kids.  He recognized the kids and took the picturs out. He was going to meet me at the local bar at a certain time.  I'm already there when he arrives and hands the bartender these pictures.

She was very happy to get these pictures. Turn out these pictures were her grandchildren.  The older couple that died would have been the great grandparents on the other side of the family and apparently no one from that family side wanted them because they were left in the desk with everything else.

Oh, going back to the german bible. My last name is german even though i cannot read much of it. Because of the condition of the bible i was going to pass on it but because it was german and my last name is german i decided to buy it , any other language i probably would have past on it because of the condition.    It was like it was meant to be.

We have always thought that some items have a mission of there own and they just use us to get were it needs to be.  Its really cool when something like that happens.  We have had it happen at least twice in a few years.  Best regards

A zillion years ago now, whenever it was that the very first iPod appeared, you could order them direct from Apple and have a two-line inscription laser-etched on the back of the case. My wife still keeps the one I gave to her. (We are not divorced. Smiley Tongue)
