Just had a horrible experience selling. Buyer demanded item shipped immediately. A month later opened a dispute. I responded to the buyer but didn't see any options to refute the dispute. Now I am out the sold product and $40 + fees. I really don't see any reason to use ebay anymore, I feel its completely jumped the shark. Has anybody else had a similar experience? Just not worth it based on cost and effort. Ebay favors scammers.

No need to ask for similar experiences, read threads that have been started on this board. It is wise to spend time in here and familiarize yourself with it.
Good luck.

The ebay money back guarantee covers sales up to 30 days after delivery. You don't provide many details to know what happened. I've had a few questionable claims, but I've never lost both my money and item if I handled the return myself.

Ouch.. What was the dispute?

Not to be the 'grinch' here....we all hate these scenarios

I, tool have never lost both my money and item.....

Was it a credit card/bank dispute? Because if it was then it has absolutely nothing to do with eBay whatsoever. What EXACTLY happened and what EXACTLY was this dispute over? Wayyyy to many details missing here.

As others mentioned not enough information in your post to tell what happened. If this is the graphics card a scam doesn't surprise me it's one of the high target items for scammers.

@salesns@ Since you did not provide any details, I will take a guess at what happened.
Many times when we try to sell our "junk", it is risky business especially when the item goes for $43 plus $50 Shipping. It is not worth the risk of a return/INAD when shipping is that high for a cheap item. Your not going to want to pay expensive return shipping for junk so it is best to just refund and move on. Lesson learned.
If you get a INAD on an item like that, it is an instant loser. I would have recycled it or given it away for free to someone to sell at a flea market or garage sale.

don't know what kind of 'dispute' was opened, but if it was an ebay case, sellers have 3 business days to respond, if they don't, then yea, buyer 'may' be able to both keep the item plus get a refund at the seller's expense, plus if the seller doesn't respond and the buyer escalates the case, seller does not get their fees back and they get a defect on their account.
as mentioned, if it was a cc or pp dispute, it has nothing to do with ebay.

Did you ship with tracking? If tracking shows delivered, then eBay would rule in your favor with a dispute. No tracking, seller can not prove item was received.

There are 2 'disputes' (technically neither are a dispute).
1 is a 'return' through ebay
1 is a 'credit card charge back'
The first- depends on the 'reason used', but you can choose or require the item to be returned.
The latter is the Bank of the Credit Card doing a 'charge back'; you were able to submit a response back to the bank, but if you went on and on thinking you were talking to the buyer, then the bank just dismisses your reponse and issues the customer a refund.
Later, ebay takes that money from you telling you why
Which did you have?

that is an excellent view point for this type of stuff (if this is the item)
This description doesn't help either..it is inviting potential trouble
also, don't forget, no returns does not mean no refunds in that policy

Just not worth it based on cost and effort.
At least it's free and easy to post here. Hope you've taken some of the advice to heart. Good luck to you...

Actually you are only out of the sold product and fees. If you claim the $40 that is double dipping and against all accepted accounting practices not to mention the IRS. So if the item cost you $10 and fees were about 5.60 you are only out 15.60.

I am relatively computer savvy and couldn't find a way to respond to the dispute lol. I contacted the buyer right after the dispute, no response even though when they bought the item they required immediate shipping. It was the Mario Kart 8 switch game. I think I tried 10 times to find a dispute response, and couldn't, I thought contacting was enough. If anyone could post the dispute response link that would be amazing. Since I felt I was in the right, I thought there would be no chance of coming out down. Super annoyed.
It was a like new Switch game, that sold for a reasonable price. It wasn't thrift store junk.
