Did eBay change something?

I have been averaging 140-150 views per day for a while now. The last few days I have been only getting 10-15 views. It was a pretty sharp cut off in views. It almost seems as if eBay changed something rather than market changes over time.

Re: Did eBay change something?

i'm pretty sure ebay has teams of people that are constantly playing around with how it all works and whatever they just did is making it so we aren't getting views atleast that we can see on our side. I'm still getting sales but there has been a massive drop off in views that many are noticing that happened this weekend. i'm sure they will have another meeting that makes it work correct and then have another meeting that screws it all up again.

Re: Did eBay change something?

There are a lot of items that buyers don't "search" for in an exact manner.
Instead, they get on eBay every day or so and Browse categories.
Run down the page each morning looking at the newer listings (what they didn't see the day before).
It's possible that yours have dropped down the page due to time listed and are no getting the attention that they were before.
I'll not get into my other 10 reasons since those reasons come off as being more "conspiracy" related.
All are just guesses anyway since nobody really knows for sure.

Re: Did eBay change something?

You are exactly right. There is something wrong. My promoted listing views are good along with external views but the organic views are missing since yesterday. I have zero organic views for Sunday and Monday right now and that's way off. My guess is that those searching can still see our listings, but the organic views are just not tabulating correctly on the traffic page.

Re: Did eBay change something?

How do your sales compare with this time last year? 2023? 2019? (Because we ignore the outlier pandemic years.)

Over 40 years selling mail order, I have learned that my weakest sales are consistently November/December because my collectibles are not "giftable", while January to March is busy.

For most retailers, including online, November /December is when they make their money

You can't compare this month to last month. You can't compare Tuesdays to Saturdays.  When I worked in a B&M we tried to set up customer conferences  at 2pm preferably on Tuesdays, because the shop floor was consistently dead then.

And the beat goes on.

PS. You've been selling since October 2024. You actually have nothing to compare with.

Re: Did eBay change something?

they can compare by looking at the views and there's a big ol 0 on organic views. check yours do you have organic views for yesterday or today? that's what they are comparing to they never said anything at all about sales.

Hey @theripreserve! We apologize about the issues yourself and others are experiencing with the Traffic page not showing accurate data. This is a known site wide issue that has an open ticket set to be resolved under ALERT138554.

Re: Did eBay change something?

Wow it is surprising and encouraging to see a Blue come in and address a known issue without even being summoned.  Thank you devon@ebay .  Had you not responded so soon, this surely would have become another post where someone who knows something is wrong gets treated like Chicken Little just because so many Chicken Little's do come crying about the sky falling, LOL.

@theripreserve  I'm curious if your per-item views are more like you'd expect, or if they match the (incorrect) Traffic views counter?  I just checked and there is definitely a disparity.  The Traffic says yesterday I got only 2 organic views for my whole store, whereas just one item got more than that, on my Listings page.  Do you know how to see an item's view history?  If not, go to your Listings page and click on the actual number in the Views column.  You will get a popup showing the various kinds of views that item has had, for up to the past 30 days.

Re: Did eBay change something?

Thanks devon@ebay .  I noticed all of my listings have 0 views and 0 watchers, which wasn't the case earlier today.  I knew it was just temporary!

Side note--I also keep getting multiple sign in notifications while making listings today.  Sometimes I get 2-3 on just making one listing.

Re: Did eBay change something?

I don't care about Views or about Watchers.

Viewers view.

Watchers watch.

Buyers buy.

And for most categories January is "hamburger month", people are buying nothing because they feel broke.

This is unrelated to whether or not they are broke, btw.

Re: Did eBay change something?

This thread is probably more for people who do care about views and watchers.

Re: Did eBay change something?

I'm not gonna sugar coat it I'm trying to make a little money here so I don't have time to have over a thousand items listed that are pulling in 150 dollars over 3 months. So I pay attention to views and watchers because it leads to sales.  None of your cares had anything to do with there not being any views organically on sunday and monday morning.
