Why can't ebay stop these scammers who bid for fun?

Sellers need to report these people to eBay. Even though you might not see a difference instantly, these people who habitually do this get nailed in eBay's algorithms when they are reported by sellers over and over again.

If sellers do not report these abusers, eBay thinks that you are okay with what they are doing. I research those who do this to me and if they have several bid retractions from other sellers, I report them and then put them on my blocked buyers list so that they can never do this to me again.

How were you scammed? Do you have any suggestions for eBay about "these scammers who bid for fun"?

Many experienced sellers here suggest that it's best to list fixed price, immediate payment required". That way, it's not sold until it's paid for.

Just block them on your blocked bidder list including further communication and move on. I wouldn't even take the time to report them as eBay does nothing as they simply do not have the staff.

well they get enough non paying bidders they be gone: oh and then they just make new ID.....

so don't sweat it> after four days cancel sale due to non payment or set such to auto do this and move one.

Blocked bidders list is also available to use> Preferences can be set for bidder (buyers as well.

Use the tools eBay give one to use.

Actually you can stop them and here's how:

Avoid auction style listings with best offers and list all your items at a fixed buy it now price with immediate payment required checked off. Sport bidders and non - paying bidders steer clear of these listings as they must pay instantly. NO best offers either or they will continue to annoy you.

I stopped auction style listings years ago and now when I have a sale I always get paid.
