Crooks getting way with INAD chargebacks!

Sellers don't have a chance in an item not as described case! Disputing the bogus chargeback case that my buyer filed with his payment institution, 1 picture was all allowed, no text explanation, no purchased product receipt, absolutely nothing else. This is robbery with no protection from ebay. First one EVER had, been selling since 2004. It's not financially smart to pay probably 30% interest on monthly purchases, so of coarse the credit card company's will comply - they wanna keep ya around! Ebay should do like another venue I sell on. If a buyer goes over their head doing that before trying to work out a return/refund through them, they suspend their account indefinitely! Also they have shipping label insurance, if print their labels & an item's lost in transit (even 1st class mail) the buyer gets refunded & the seller too at the rate selling it for! Ebays the largest auction site ever & could certainly learn a thing or two from some of the smaller fellas!!!

Re: Crooks getting way with INAD chargebacks!

I had my first charge back a while ago.

Uploaded tracking and eBay took care of it.

My second one in October is a totally different story.

Reason for chargeback.........buyer hadn't received his refund.

Refund for what???? He hadn't opened a case or returned anything.

I could only upload 1 photo which I did with a picture of the tracking.

Showing address delivered to and the signature upon delivery.

I lost the case and was told I owed eBay $299.99 plus $20 dispute fee.

I was shocked!! How could eBay say I was in the wrong???

I called eBay and was told that they didn't understand why the buyer would have won the case since there was no case opened or a return made.

He was going to check into it and get back with me. That was almost a month ago.

I knew then he said that just to get me off the phone.

eBay didn't do anything to fight this chargeback, but charge me more money.

I contacted the buyer and he said he must have disputed the wrong transaction as he had purchased two and returned one.

I asked him to contact his bank to reopen the dispute to get it corrected.

Of course, he didn't!

So, I'm out my product, the money and the $20 dispute fee!

No Hun, this is a chargeback through his credit card company, went directly to them, didn't even try to initiate a return/refund through ebay. Guess he figured wouldn't win due to messages I had.. FIRST, he initially got upset bc I wouldn't volume discount on 3 of the same discontinued products, so after griping he buys just one. I shipped the next day. Then he files an item not received case after only 11 days (usps is experiencing delays). But the item was indeed delivered the very next day (received after 12 days) When got it then he starts cussing me claiming the item is fake! It all boils down to spite & wanting something for free. And it had delivery confirmation, I wouldn't be crazy enough to sell on auction sites without it. But packages do sometimes get lost in transit, so what I meant is another venue refunds both buyer & seller if that happens. And yes, I do agree with suspension if FIRST you don't ask the seller or the auction site's customer service to assist with an issue. Going over their head like that smells like fraud & 99% of the time is!

Often times buyers will go directly to their CCC and file a dispute due to them not recognizing the charge on their card.  It may or may not have anything to do with the product or shipping but simply they don't recognize how the charge presents on their card.

Also a note if you are shipping USPS.  While they have had lots of significantly late deliveries this past year, and I ship a whole lot of packages, they haven't actually lost any of mine.  Just really late deliveries, but all are arriving at some point.  So don't assume a package is lost.  Chances are pretty good at some point it will arrive.

Yep, didn't have a chance tho, he went straight to chargeback with his credit card company. And this being my first experience with such, disputed it not knowing until reading on the community boards about the fee to come etc. I'm thinking he's ripping off sellers on his purchases & then reselling bc can see from his 4 listings he actually lives in Virginia but edited the address having the item he purchased from me shipped to Maryland. With most sellers, he probably intimidates them into refunds having them fear negative feedback but found out thru messages I was not gonna fall for it. Called him out on leaving negative feedback on his last 3 purchases before mine, all straight in a row! I can't state his complete ebay id bc it's not allowed, but will say should've known to immediately block him when saw "Cassinova" as the beginning portion of it. =/

There is only a fee if you lose the chargeback.

Go to your buyer's FB page.  Look under the tab FB left of others.  Often we can see some trends there on the buyer's behavior through the FB they leave for others.  And this information can help Ebay and you prove ABUSE.  So make sure you gather than info too.

Believe me, this wasn't THAT, he knew exactly what he was doing, what the charge was for & exactly who the payment went to....

Credit Card=in some cases license to steal. CC chargebacks are the WORST SCENERIO with a buyer here. You do all you can to prevent one becuase the CC companies are all for the card holder in most situations. Some retailers have specialized services they use to fight chargebacks.

Depends on what they were for.

Depends on what they were for.

As the title of the thread indicates, this was for an item not as described.  In this case, the seller has only two options:

Refund the buyer

or

Post a photo.

The case was NOT made though ebay, but rather the payment source be it PayPal, GPay, or a credit card.  There is no option for 'return for refund', unless I suppose you post that sentence as a jpg.  A return of the item is not required for the buyer to get the refund and the seller gets the extra $20 fee because they didn't refund or send the right photo.  Sounds totally "ebay" to me at this point.

Re: Crooks getting way with INAD chargebacks!

I am so sorry that happened to You, what a mighty big loss! And with all of your evidence, how could such an error possibly slip through the radar - then be ignored?! It's not ebays loss for one, if was they'd be on it! Apparently some handling these cases aren't hard working driven folks with a conscience instead have lazyitus with a just bypass my time & get paid attitude. This is 100% criminal activity & for the life of me can't understand why sellers aren't protected more being the breath of ebay. Don't misunderstand, probably like most of you,  I buy things as well on ebay & of coarse buyers are a must too being a very important asset, but no products = no buyers = no ebay existence. And Sellers pay ebay enormous fees! Only 5 or 10% of my buyers leave feedback, think bc a whole lot are resellers so you may not be able to tell from my fb but my seller fees are around $900 a month. And that's chicken scratch compared to fees ebays extremely high volume sellers pay. I wish they'd require buyers to FIRST try to resolve thru ebay or face suspension.  Another venue I sell some on suspends if one does a credit card chargeback. I personally have no problem with a legit return, it's business &  sometimes things happen, have done a few. However; I do have a major problem with a thief.

Re: Crooks getting way with INAD chargebacks!

I had one of these opened today for $79.95 transaction from 8/30/20 claiming not as described.  What evidence can I possibly provide to prove that the items sent were as described.  I know I lose in a "he said she said".  If I decide not to fight, do I get hit with the $20 fee also?

None.  Ebay has never gotten in the middle of a he said she said.

If the buyer opened a claim on Ebay the $20 fee does not apply.

If the buyer opened the claim with their credit card company, that is a chargeback and if you lose the claim then the $20 fee applies.

If this is a claim opened on Ebay, just accept the return and issue the shipping label.  Trying to fight this will only get you a defect on your selling account.

Re: Crooks getting way with INAD chargebacks!

Thank you for your response.  This transaction is from August, there was no return request opened.  I guess buyer discovered that is was too late for that and went to plan b, the chargeback with their credit card company.  A return request would be a lot easier to work with.  This buyer has had these items for four months.  There is no good place to upload "evidence" that the items were as described in the chargeback response section.  I don't know what it would be anyway.

That is a failure in the MP system.  The only thing we can do on a chargeback is upload tracking.  I've talked with Ebay about this issue as sellers often have pertinent information needed for the accurate processing of a chargeback but MP doesn't give us any way to do that.  The only thing we can do is to call Ebay and ask for an MP specialist on Claims / chargebacks.

Chargebacks are different than a claim filed in Ebay.  Claims filed in Ebay as an INAD, we pretty much can't win no matter what.

But Chargebacks are different.  You have some seller protections on this.  You really need to call Ebay and talk with someone in MP as soon as you can.  Someone that specializes in Claims and Chargebacks.
