Credit Card issues, troubles, problems. Cannot update nor verify my credit card. Anyone else?

Still having issues simply trying to update my credit card. It's the same old card i've been using for years. Just needed to update the expiration date, and the ebay system can't do it. The card still works fine all around town, so I know the problem is on ebay's side. Spent 40 minutes on the phone with ebay support and they couldn't figure it out. So frustrating. Updating a simple expiration date should NOT be a big deal. Anyone else having troubles?

If you are unable to edit the current card info to update the expiration date, try adding the card as a new card. If that works, then you can delete the old card number.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work either! The ebay customer service person on the phone said something about deleting the card, then waiting 24-48 hours, and trying again, which makes no sense. Updating a credit card's expiration date should be a really simple affair.

At what point in the process are you getting hung up? Are you getting an error message of some kind?

I assume you have already double checked the card number, expiration date, date format and security code.

I would not delete the old card yet unless it is expired and cannot be used at all.

For situations like this it is often handy to have a backup card that can at least be added to the account so you are not left with a valid payment method while this gets sorted out.

Error message says something like We could not verify your card. Even the ebay customer service rep couldn't help. At this point, the old card is now deleted. I'll wait 48 hours and then try to add it back in as a new card. Ridiculous. Ebay still linked to my personal bank account in managed payments for selling purposes, so I don't think I have an immediate urgent need. I'll just avoid making any purchases on ebay for the time being.

I'm facing the same issue in the process of converting to a seller account (when entering the automatic payment method)

I removed the existing card and tried to enter its details again & an error is popping out stating "Card cannot be verified"

It did not work for me after 48 hours. Here's my partial remedy. I went on eBay to purchase an item that I wanted. At some point during the checkout, I was able to update my credit card information. I think it's pretty lame that this is the only way I could find to update the credit card.

However, it's not a total solution, because I still can't make my credit card become my "Preferred For Selling Costs". For selling, my primary payment method is still my bank account. That works well enough, but I would rather have my credit card to be used for "Preferred for Selling Costs". Just a personal choice.

I really can't believe it has been this hard to simply update a credit card with an updated expiration date! This is routine stuff. Nothing terribly complicated here.
