I currently have a selling account that is doing well and is in good standing, I also have this posting ID account; however, I am contemplating starting a second selling account, but I am too afraid of what will happen with a 2nd selling account that will start all over with zero feedback; I do not want to be the target of scammers.
Question:
For those who started a second selling account: what were the pros and cons? Thanks in advance to all who are willing to share.

One of the advantages of having separate accounts for buying and selling is that if you decide you need another selling account, you can "Promote" the buying account to seller status and it starts out with a non-zero feedback profile.
Yes, a zero-feedback new selling account would be a target for scammers in certain categories; but in others it won't be a problem. If you have some time, start the account now and buy a few things. Even a few feedback looks a lot better than zero.

i agree you can start building feedback by buying a few things.
You can resell things on your other account that you brought here on a different account without having people find that item in your past history and see that you only payed so little for it.
you can sell multiple of different items that might not look good selling on the same id. for example you might not want to sell that bible on the same id that is selling sex toys. Or even have a third or fourth id for those risque type things.
if 1 id takes a hit, you can just let it sit idle and let it repair itself over time with just the one strike. problem with only 1 id, if you take a hit and try repairing it by listing more you run into the chances of getting more hits against you and we all know what happens when you get too many negs to close together. but by letting the account that gets a neg sit out you can continue selling with your other good accounts with no restrictions/suspensions. But just a warning though if you play to close to the fire and do get one of your accounts restricted/suspended, they all do.
more free listings if you don't use a store. each nonstore account you have will give you an extra 50 listings for free so if you have 4 accounts you can have 200 free listings.

This concern is actually very simple to deal with.
Use the new account to sell low price, low risk items until it is established.

The only real advantage that I can think of is branding, like fuzzface says. You can create separate "brand identities" to appeal to different audiences. And if you're selling in a category where buyers can be kind of difficult, it will insulate your other selling activity from negative feedback and etc.
The only real downside that I can think of is administrative — having to jump back and forth between different seller hubs, etc.

I have 4 accounts that have items listed and 2 (maybe 3 lol) more that I don't list on.
Advantages: branding, keeping different lines of items separate, able to use different sales strategies without affecting the other account.
Disadvantages: seller holds (yes, you will still be subject to payment holds), more sales to keep track of, finding time to list on both accounts.
I'm sure there are a lot more advantages and disadvantages, but those are pretty specific to why I have different accounts.
I have accounts that sell balloons only, coffee mugs and glassware, CDs/DVDs, and assorted odds and ends.
