Combined Shipping Invoice

A buyer purchased 4 items from me today. Tried to combine these 4 items and and calculate reduced shipping and was unable to complete the invoice. Ebay flashed a red banner on the screen stating the buyer had paid. So each item was charged separate shipping.  This has happened to me before, and thought this had been fixed.  The buyer did contact me before purchasing the items for a combined shipping amount, which I gave. What am I doing wrong on my listings or is it Ebay?  I use to be able to invoice combined shipping but that was a while ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

Those requirements were placed on all seller accounts with the default set to yes.  If you wish to allow multiple purchases from the same buyer for a combined invoice to be sent you will have to uncheck them or slide them to the NO position.  If you don't want multiple sales, keeping the requirements in place will assist you if non-payers are really a problem.  You could always use BIN/Immediate payment required.  Buyers will still have to pay separately, but at least they can choose how to pay.

Buyer Payment Requirements

*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid.

*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.

Were your 'sales' from offers submitted by your buyer?  If so, ALL buyer IDs have been forced into the program so long as the seller preferences linked to above are in place.  eBay is still enrolling buyer IDs into forced participation in order for them to bid.  It is billed as 'new improved checkout' or 'for their convenience' without actually making the consequences clear.

This program limits the options can use to pay (i.e. No ApplePay, GooglePay, Spendable Funds, Gift cards, many seller promotions, PayPal Credit, PayPal Pay in 4, etc.).  There will be no way to combine items for one shipping price since each item is paid for immediately at full price.  These are all separate transactions, and it discourages buyers that actually DO pay, and truly serves to get rid of buyers that DO pay and are interested in other items you have to offer.

Re: Combined Shipping Invoice

You did nothing wrong.  If they buyer paid before you combines the shipping then it is too late to combine the shipping.

What you can do now is to package everthing together and make sure you enter the same Tracking Number into each item and then refund the buyer the amount you were going to reduce the shipping.

See if you can find you orders here.

If the buyer has already paid then you need to issue a partial refund. Find the sale in your awaiting shipment, use the dropdown on the left and select refund.

You pick a reason and then an amount and then follow the prompts.

You will get a refund of fees on the refunded amount. Buyer will get the refund plus any taxes paid.

Re: Combined Shipping Invoice

As long as the buyer is in the US and shipping to a US address, you can package all together and refund the difference.

If you use EIS for international shipping, and these are going to a foreign buyer through EIS, each shipment has to have its own tracking number. At this point they cannot be combined.

Does the app still now allow combined shipping?

Re: Combined Shipping Invoice

Be sure to emphasise to the buyer to DO NOT PAY until they receive an invoice from you.

Are you getting them to commit to buy and use the Request Total function? (not available on the app of course).

Re: Combined Shipping Invoice

I think eBay changed it so buyers auto-pay at end of auction which causes the separate shipping cost. I'm not sure how to change it as a seller so that they don't auto-pay and wait for invoice.

eBay is doing that, currently it's only affecting a small percentage of listings (will be expanded over time).

You can turn off this "feature" in your Site Preferences -> Selling Preferences (near the bottom of that page).
