Seems as though eBay has no concern for customers these days! Been a longtime seller/buyer since 1999 and have come to realize that they are struggling in many departments. Mostly customer service! Check your fees folks because they are through the roof. Just shipped an item that weighs 30 lbs on my digital scale yet charged for the weight of 110 lbs. I remember the good old day when there was a cap items. Those day are sadly gone.

Sorry you feel that way, but eBay doesn't make the shipping rates. Those are established by the shipping companies themselves. If you feel you are paying a high price to ship a 30 lb. item, then your complaint would be towards USPS not eBay. I feel eBay completely lacks in the customer service dept, but I see nothing wrong with shipping on this platform. Best of luck to you....

I agree, it could of been an oversize package. And our fine USPS just raised 1st class package rates an average of 8%!
eBay has No customer service. At least none that understand specific category guidelines. And then there's the language issue.......
I hardly ever use the phone for "Customer Service" anymore. Preferring instead to use chat ski I have transcript copies that show eBay management how incompetent their "Customer Service" reps are.

Accurate dimensions and weight. Been doing this a long time.

The incompetence of eBay's CS phone reps isn't exactly a state secret.
However, I understand (from sellers) that the eBay reps who handle problems on social media do an excellent job:

FedEx is notorious for upcharging after the fact. They flow items into their dimensional weight pricing tier as they see fit.
A seller friend of mine uses her own FedEx account to print labels, and what she sees, she pays. So it just must be a thing when printing labels via eBay, I don't know. But I have heard many sellers complain about this.

I always know exactly what my fees are. I would be a fool not to.
And in addition to knowing my fees, I also know exactly what my shipping costs will be. Again, I would be a fool not to.

I also suggest signing up with Pirateship and always checking prices there on anything heavy or large, they often beat ebay rates on oddball packages and can integrate with ebay. They are also a good way to be able to ship media mail whenever ebay decides that an eligible item is not eligible. Never understood why they want to default to media mail on some categories that it hasn't been legal to send media mail for years, but block it in other categories that the whole category basically qualifies.

USPS fees have become exorbitant for heavier packages over longer distances. UPS and FedEx best choices for those kinds of shipments. I live on the east coast, have seen USPS rates double for some packages going transcontinental. Had an item that would have been $20 to ship to say NYC be $40 to send to LA, was able to ship via FedEx for $22.
USPS, in my opinion, still best for International. Not a fan of the two eBay programs
I don't think USPS really wants to be in the long-haul package business at those noncompetitive rates. Pirate Ship is a good source for checking rates.
