Hello,
I recently held an auction for a popular electronic device. I clearly stated in the description that buyers must have higher than 0 feedback to purchase the item. I do not feel like risking $400 or having my new item switched with an old one. I know this is not an eBay policy. A buyer with 0 feedback was the winning bid. Is there anyway I can cancel this auction or anything I can do without being charged a fee? Thank you

Only you can decide that.
"After you cancel, we’ll let the buyer know. If they’ve already paid, they’ll get a refund."
They will still be able to leave feedback.

you can cancel

to exclude certain buyers you have mark that on auction page. There is place to do that. Putting that in the description is not doing anything.

You sound like you know that is not enforceable. If you cancel, you will also get a major defect, a few of those and your selling career here is over. No you wont get your PP fees back.

I do realize it is not enforceable. I’ve been selling and buying for over 20 years, I am fearful of what might happen when I actually do ship the item. The person has not paid yet so I wanted to see if there is anything I can do beforehand but it doesn’t sound like it.

Well maybe he wont pay and you can file an uid in forty eight hours.

I watched your auction end, you successfully cancelled the 0 feedback bid, only to get another.
I don't blame you a bit for worrying because of the high price, but you should honor your sales.
If you don't feel like risking $400, then don't list it at all.
As stated in your other thread, you cannot prevent 0 feedback members from bidding or buying; putting those terms in your listing is meaningless.
cancel the transaction=it’s considered a transaction defect

Maybe you'll get lucky and they won't pay.

Thanks, I’ll have to be more mindful in the future about selling certain items on eBay. I will always fullfill my end of a sale as my feedback is 100% but what happens if I do take a defect? I realize too many and I can no longer sale. What are my protections for someone who is getting a brand new item but marks the item as not described ?

Then you refund after return..and hope you get your same item back.

I get a lot of zero feedback buyers and only had issues when my feedback was under 100 and the scammers were taking shots. Since my feedback reached 100 no more issues

Never ever list anything that you can't take a total loss on. I don't know if it is possible to fix this problem or if eBay even wants to try. Good Luck, try CL.

You'll get a fvf credit.

I don't believe that ebay is the only platform that isn't too concerned about what you may think might happen. And, if there isn't anything apparent to indicate that something might happen, then they probably have even less concern. Considering that all ebay users, at one time, had 0 feedback, you might have a hard time getting any sympathy from ebay (ebay always wants new buyers) and the punishments can be harsh, as you should be aware.
