That is great news, but ebay's has a lot to fix in a short amount of time

1st is forced managed payments, """"STOP IT NOW""""", rethink and read what sellers and buyers are saying

""""a lot more seller protection""""", or sellers will be in the same sinking boat, and jumping to a floating ship,

cause ebay is sinking at an alarming rate

Selling 40 postcards to 40 different buyers will result in total transaction fees of $2.00 since I am signed up for PayPal Micropayments (5% + $.05/transaction).  This is still substantially lower than $10.00 for eBay item fees (40 x $.25).  I had a thread requesting eBay adopt some sort of Micropayment fees in their Managed Payment program, but I never got an eBay response.

@somanypcs

I agree this fee is a real problem in MP.  And maybe they should have a Micropayment program inside of MP, but this affects a lot more sellers than just those that get micropayments.  This fee by per listing purchased just needs to be completely retired.  It is unfair, financially damaging and punitive to sellers that sell multiple items to one buyer.

It's a "Great News Day" for eBay members (Sellers & Buyers).

The Board finally had enough (as did we).  Kudos to the Board!!

Time for sweeping changes ... and to sweep away:

  • GTC Mandate
  • Managed Payments
  • And other things Customers don't want, or are not working.

What do buyer's have to complain about with MPs?  For buyers the only thing that affects them is they have more payment options.  Other than that, everything functions the same for buyers.

MP however has some growing to do that is for sure.  But there is still time before the majority or all of us have to use it.

So does that mean you don't have any specifics?  I'm not trying to get into a debate.  I was interested in your rationale for the statement.  If it was just in the spirit of supporting another poster, fine.  No problem.  But if there are something or some things that you feel breach the law that the FTC should step in on, I was just interested to learn what it is or they are.

We don't have a fixed timetable for mandatory MP to work with. I have become enamored with PayPal and am resistant to any new program being force fed to me. I could probably work around MP, but am making a personal decision not to.

I too am perfectly happy with PP, but unfortunately we don't have a choice.  By 2021 we well all be in MP unless something changes between now and then.  And anytime in between it is hard to say if Ebay isn't going to tell some of us we are being opt'd into the program.  Ebay does have percentages of total sales they have to adhere to with their contract with PP.  So they can't exceed those ceilings.  But if enough sellers aren't going in voluntarily, Ebay's approach could change.

There's always a choice we have.  The Board chose to make a change and Devin Wenig is out.  The Board can help to drive out "All The Things Customer Don't Want."  It's really very easy ... to choose to do the Right Thing.

I too do not agree with the 25 cent per listing transaction fee that MP will be charging.  I don't like it one little bit.  And I have every intention of letting Ebay know that every single chance I get.  But because I don't agree with it, does not make it illegal.

You would have to be able to prove that Ebay is holding seller's money and making a profit on it.  Like they did with PP when PP got sued for that and lost.  Chances are Ebay, knowing the lawsuit intimately would not repeat that mistake, no matter how badly you hate Ebay.

But the difference here is Ebay has said they are not transferring money to the sellers until the payment from the buyer has cleared their funding source.  Which this is what causes the delay.  PayPal doesn't do it that way.  They make the funds available to the seller immediately.  But because MP isn't doing that doesn't make it illegal.  It is how they have set it up at this time.  Etsy uses Ayden too and Etsy only pays out every couple of weeks.  Amazon while they aren't using Ayden, they too only pay out every couple of weeks.

Moving on.

Also, just wanted to know, was the comment in your last post directed towards me?

If so, I have NEVER Said "I Hate eBay" ... I HAVE said "I Really Like eBay And Want To See Them Succeed."

Not true it is not same on other online venue's. On other they give you the mailing cost from your sale. Also are faster in getting your $. E bay is slow to pay and wants you to front the mailing cost.  It is hard for me to pay mailing before i am paid. Or have to transfer $ to pay pal to mail items not been paid for. If e bay can not fix so my mailing can be deducted from sale with their manged payment I will never join it. Will just quit selling on e bay.  Before I pay mailing from my pocket. Not knowing if e bay is not going to take other buyer cash to pay for mailing someone else buy for others return. That is bull it is not the same on many other sites that mange their own banking.

With all due respect, I'm wondering why you think that IF the board forced Wenig to resign, that they have any plans to do any of the things you, and many others, have hopes and wishes of happening?

Considering that the board was fine having Wenig around until the Elliott and Starboard Value BODs came onboard, and considering that, probably at the behest of those new BODs, Wenig is no longer CEO, and considering that they are in it strictly for the profit, as quickly as they can manage - just like the Ichan who came onboard to get PayPal cut loose, got his money, and then, poof, gone - I really don't see a brighter future for sellers on ebay. These people are Investor Activists (formerly called Corporate Raiders). They are in it for the money and that only. You and I and the other sellers don't matter, nor the buyers.

So, if you thnk about it, I mean, really stop and think about it, please tell me why you think there will be a 'And, they lived happily, ever after' to this story.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

Oh yeah Gracie, that might be the interest here. However , PP did do exceptionally well after the split. Perhaps Ebay website might do better with a split of it’s other assets? If then they can focus mainly on ebay. If that is what they are considering then Maybe that’s a good thing. If they are considering it to just sell all three then I do not know what will become of Ebay.
