When listing on the old Markdown manager, you can select 'entire inventory' for 'x' amount of days. Whenthe sale would start, you can list new items and they won't roll onto the sale you just started.
On the new Markdown manager, if you start a sale as 'entire inventory' and then continue to list after the sale has created, then the new listings will automatically be added to the sale...
I have never noticed this before for many, many sales. I'm not sure if it was announced with the new Markdown tool, but what I read I didn't see any mention of this.
Just a little heads up for anyone who didnt happen to know this yet. Had listed a few new items I didn't want to go on sale and they roiled onto my sale I started many hours before.

We do a 10% off $50 or more spent for our entire inventory promo every month. We EXPECT and want it to include new listings, and it does. We use "category, all inventory selected"....then if there are items we wanted excluded, we use the exclude item feature for those item numbers. So, do that, and then when you list something you not wanted included remember to go into your promo and exclude that item number if you don't want it in the promo. We have very few items that cost $50 or more so this isn't an issue for us. The promo basically encourages buyers to buy more than one item and we are essentially passing along our shipping savings back to the buyer. Provides about a 15% uplift every month. We also do sales promotions, but pick those items selectively and don't choose all inventory for those.

no idea
old markdown manager worked fine start a sale hit a button and you are done
i guess ill have to go back and try to figure this "new" markdown manager out again
and now having looked at it i realize what it is you can select 500 listings or since i have 7,500 listings i chose rules there is no way i want to select 500 listings at a time to put on sale. i want all items on sale when i have a sale and want all new items to be full price. could do that on old markdown manager why ruin a good thing??
unless there is something i dont know marking down 7,500 listings 500 listings at a time is a waste of my time before 2 minutes tops and you were done.

Yep, it may take 4-8 hours or so, but all new listings get added when you select entire inventory.
