I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to quit eBay. I've done it for around 14 years and it's just not a safe place to sell anymore. Long ago sellers could leave negative or neutral feedback for bad buyers, but now the only feedback you can leave is positive. You can't see the bad buyers coming because no-one can warn you.
I've had buyers return only some of the item. I've had them destroy the item, and more commonly I have them return a different item. eBay is the very opposite of helpful, gladly handing the buyer's money back. No amount of seller efforts can protect them.

Long ago sellers could take a buyer's money and not send the item, and eBay would not refund the buyer.

Ad if the buyer tried to give the seller a negative then the seller would give the buyer a retaliatory negative in return.

Hence why the system should have been overhauled years ago.

Three options:

1) Get used to it

2) Get used to it and adjust to cushion the losses

3) Leave.

Oh yea, and regardless report the buyers for abuse.

I've had the same problem when selling computer parts - buyers will purchase the incorrect item, damage it, and then return it as "Significantly Not As Described" to get a full refund including original shipping. Every time this has happed to me I end up calling eBay and telling them the item was damaged before return (and that no damage was evident on shipping box). Several times they have helped me.

Strangely, if the item is returned and I test it and find it to be working perfectly (buyer didn't know how to use item) but no damage, eBay has never helped me as the seller. I end up eating the value of the new item plus shipping only to sell it as used.

That was my point - it was overhauled years ago.

They changed it in 2008 so that buyers could screw sellers instead of vice-versa.
