Buyers cannot check out / process payment

Long-time eBay seller here. I sell at least a few items a week, but all of a sudden none of my potential buyers can check out to process payment. They receive errors that payment cannot be processed. No changes in my account financial or otherwise recently. Has anybody else encountered this before and is there a solution?

     This is the second posting like this in the last few days. I shudder to think that eBay has another technical "glitch" that is having an adverse impact on both the sellers and the buyers. Check with the sellers and see if any of them have by chance bought from another seller and if they are having problems paying those invoices as well. 

     The other poster commented that they had talked to eBay CS and they could not find anything wrong with his account but he too had 13 buyers that were unable to pay for items. Suggestion was to turn the buyers loose on eBay customer support since eBay tends to cater to the buyers and multiple buyers calling in the same problem would probably carry more weight with eBay than one or two sellers.

I just got off the phone with eBay support and they were unable to provide any assistance other than to ask for the buyers to contact them to verify any issues with their accounts. The truth is those buyers are most likely not going to reach out, they will simply cancel the orders for my items and move on. I am left not knowing if people can even purchase anything from my account.

Wow, this is ridiculous, not to mention unacceptable.  Ebay needs to step up their game.

These are credible US cs agents that actually work for Ebay and are more likely help you with your issue.  Many positive outcomes posted here in their ability to be helpful.

According to the buyer(s) that frequent our shop, this has been a problem for over a year, and is a touchy subject for some we have found that out trying to self promote our online selections and free local pickup.

Shame shame... I wonder if that is why we have so many weekly failure to pays..

I started with eBay help on Twitter who ultimately directed me to calling eBay CS. I've gone back to eBay help on Twitter but nothing yet...

Yes, who knows how many so-called non-paying buyers are simply unable to pay and say the hell with it.

Buyers are agitated and cancelling as expected. No resolution from customer service, eBay help Twitter, or eBay for business Facebook. 

 

Moving my sales elsewhere. I don't see another option.

Update

One of my potential buyers was gracious enough to go through the hassle of calling eBay as recommended by eBay CS. Here's the message I received from them after their call: 

 

"I've contacted ebay and they said it was a problem with their IT."

This keeps happening when I try to buy on eBay too. I have contacted chat help repeatedly and it just happens again and for every transaction, literally every single one, I have to contact eBay to get someone to force the transaction. It’s getting way too time consuming to shop like this, because I have to not only spend time with chat, but then I have to repeatedly re-enter my payment and billing address info. For EVERY SINGLE TRANSACTION! I have realized it’s a glitch that eBay can’t do a blanket fix for, something that was theorized on other threads about this same issue. I wonder how many sales are lost due to this kind of thing, because it is very frustrating and makes you want to just give up trying to buy the item. Also it’s an old issue. I have seen archived threads from as far back as 2019 complaining about this same issue. I bet we could find even older ones because another glitch that blocked me from buying had threads 5-7 years old.
