Buyer’ scam

Greetings! I hope this massage can be helpful to honest eBay’ sellers. After 4 years been a responsible seller,  I found serious problems in how eBay is dealing in Australia when a seller is  the victim of a buyer’ scam. I sold and shipped a collectible item, brand new, in excellent conditions, never opened, never used, exactly how the information was provided in my post. Once the item was received, the buyer took pictures after open the figure and cut the seals to plead the item was not in the conditions described by the seller, asking for the item’s refund. Using eBay policies to harm the seller. Why? Change of mind about the purchase? Change pieces for a buyer’s item? The point is under eBay customers service actions, sellers are not protected against scams. I hope the open case will have a positive outcome but by now I am losing my asset under eBay’s actions. Please if someone has experience in this matter about how to fix this kind of problems In the community  Let me know, I will appreciate it.

Buyer’ scam

You may want to post this on the AU website.  However, your problem has been sore spot for most eBay sellers and will probably remain so for a very long time. Sellers have very little protection against dishonest buyers. "Just the cost of doing business" according to eBay.

I don't believe that there is a remedy that ebay would be willing to take - it would cost money or lose buyer's confidence.  You see, ebay is in a 'rock vs hard place' situation of their own making.  ebay wants buyers , any buyers, and has sellers, plenty of sellers and more coming of age all the time.

Thus, the Money Back Guarantee, that ebay admits they don't know what was shipped or what was returned - if anything.  However, they figure that the UA, that everybody supposedly agrees to, covers their back.  Perhaps it does, for the company's security and comfort, but how much longer will the sellers take it?

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Respect, like money, is only of 'worth' when it is earned - with all due respect, it can not be ordained, legislated or coerced. Anonymous

Tough situation - I feel for you.  I've never sold anything of that value on eBay.  eBay is in a tough spot.  They really have no way of knowing what really happened - they have to side with the buyer.  Otherwise, a few crooked sellers will ruin everything for all of us.  We can live with a few crooked buyers.

If I was going to sell something of this value, and something somewhat subject (in regards to grading), I would have gone through an amazing amount of documentation to protect myself.

Even with a $300 order, I actually record the packing process, including putting the label on the box, so that I can demonstrate that I've, indeed, shipped what I listed.  Same with buying higher dollar value items - I've even recorded the unboxing of a shipment.  I've only needed that backup on one occasion, fortunately.

That’s not the issue, there’s is rampant and obvious fraud that it’s deliberate. The question is “how do they know what was sent”? How does anyone know what anyone sent? By credibility...

So if I hack a seller account with fabulous feedback, take a bunch of orders and run with the money, it's okay because the seller account is credible?

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Buyer’ scam

This is nothing new, and there is no good solution.

Sellers on eBay have been losing fraudulent disputes to buyers regularly since 2008.
