Hi there,
I have been on eBay for years but am new to selling… my daughter has been selling her artwork to save for college and the prices people are paying are crazy…however we recently posted one of her pieces on eBay it sold within 3.5 hours which is amazing however it’s been 24 hours and the buyer is non responsive and has yet to pay which is upsetting because it’s been marked as sold and I had others interested in it. Of course my daughter was as super excited but now is worried… is it normal for a buyer to take a couple days to make payment? I am worried also because the buyer has 0% feedback
should I be concerned or worried?
thank you in advance!!!

There's nothing to worry about. If the buyer neglects to pay then the transaction can be cancelled and the item relisted.
Read this page to learn how to handle unpaid items.
As a seller of high-priced items with zero feedback, that makes you a scammer magnet. Use caution. If a buyer messages you to text or e-mail outside of eBay, DO NOT DO IT. Come back here if you have any further questions @lindsagraha2.

Doesn't a buyer have 4 days to pay before a seller can open an unpaid item case?
Am a little surprised that eBay would allow the listing of such an expensive item for a brand new seller.

You need to put the size in the listing.
It must be tiny if you think you are going to ship it for 5.50.

Now that I've taken the time to read that listing, I truly believe we're looking at a scammer.
Hard to believe anyone would have spent this much for a painting without checking out the size.
Not many details in the listing.

That's not the only thing missing from this listing. What's the medium, for example?
This is a SNAD waiting to happen. The best thing this OP can hope for is that the customer doesn't pay.

Agree with the others responses about putting the size of the painting in the posting. Also it looks to be unframed so I would assume you are rolling up the canvas and putting it in a tube or some other shipping container. Shipping indicates first class which I could see if the painting was small enough and rolled up and put in a tube.
Remember first class postage does NOT come with insurance and it appears you may have sold this for a tidy sum. Insure the first class package or utilize priority mail which has $100 of insurance coverage and add any additional insurance you may need.

Thank you for your help! Honestly my husband is a super star eBay person or whatever it’s called with 100% positive feedback… I probably should of asked for his help with this before listing it so fast…feel kind of dumb now but u learn from your mistakes right..lol… People r saying I didn’t list the size I thought I did but worst case if this does go through I’ll just have to pay the difference. We have another person that actually has offered her more then what it sold for but wanted to do right by the first person. We will see if they are scammers or not.
thank you again for your feedback and being kind!

Just wanted to make you aware that my husband pointed that out to me right away which I did in fact message the buyer the dimensions immediately. Like I said I’m new and learning I contacted eBay but will not cancel the order until it’s been 4 days then I will relish it with the proper details.

Yes agreed thank you very much! I have passed all this on to my husband as it’s to much for me he is the pro. We will be listing on his account from now on I don’t think this is for me.
thank you!

Also, did she sign it anywhere? Unless those white spots with what looks like letters inside on the lip are the signature?
How did you come up with that price anyway? I'd be curious - I mean, even if someone bought it for a possible investment, how could they justify paying that price if not signed, dated, and if I had done it, maybe a note to the buyer describing the name, year, medium, # of similar paintings of the same person, anything that would contribute to provenance of the piece.
Maybe distant Uncle Moneybags bought it to help her out.

Welcome to the wonderful world of sport bidders. It's likely this person is one of the many here on ebay who interfere with items for sale and make offers on things they have no intention of paying for. Sell items for a fixed price with immediate payment required checked off and you'll see less of these types that have obviously taken up your time. Just curious what the medium is for the painting? Acrylic? Oils? Digital? It's excellent and I'm sure you're very proud of your daughters talent. Wishing you continued sales and success.

Except I didn't ask about dimensions. I questioned what the medium might be . . .
As far as relisting it is concerned, I would recommend you take your own advice and have your husband list your daughter's work. Make sure he's aware, however, that the proceeds will be reported on his Form 1099-K for the 2022 tax year.

Was that also through eBay? As others said, with no measurements or description and a high price, you're likely looking at another scammer.
Ask your Top Rated Seller husband about listing fixed price (no offers) with immediate payment required to weed out some of the scammers. Have him help with writing the listing and setting up the shipping section.

For sure art is one thing I would NEVER list as BIN. It can be one of the things that has the widest range of personal tastes and interest. Frankly I wouldn't give you $10 for the Mona Lisa, and I have seen it, but I am sure there are those that would pay millions.
