If buyers requests to cancel order (buys it Thursday morning and cancels Friday morning) , I already packaged and shipped item/scanned label at post office , demands full refund , can I refund her just cost of the item and not postage until I receive postage refund from paypal
I was lucky enough to have a nice postal worker who I called and held the package before it went out later that day and she voided label for me
i don’t want to be out of pocket for 2-3 weeks until PayPal possible refunds my 7.15 in postage
any thoughts thanks

no way to do it that I know of........ and frankly I don't know how you are going to be refunded for the label if you don't void it on ebay yourself......

I strongly doubt you are going to get a refund for that postage. And yes, with a remorse cancellation, you are allowed to refund only the item price.

I don't have any experience with that, but since it never left the origin post office and the clerk voided it, that would mean it was technically unused. Worth a shot to try for a refund.

How it normally works when you void a label via eBay is that you get your refund back from the USPS in the mail -- not as a refund to your PayPal account. It can take anywhere from a week to three weeks for your refund check to arrive.
I've never asked USPS directly to void a pre-paid label so I'm not how that works. Seems like you should be able to get a refund, but I am assuming you purchased your label through eBay which could, I suppose, complicate things.
Since you have a friend at the PO, why not ask he/she? Maybe it's far less complicated than we think. But either way, I don't think the time you'll have to wait for the refund will be any less. Seven to 21 days is the usual turn-around for USPS to issue refunds, and in my experience that projection is accurate.

Why would you send an item to someone who doesn’t want it? The risk of things going badly increases the later in the process the transaction is stopped

IF your friend voided the Label, and is holding the package, just go pick up the package, and void label on eBay page. This will say label is not meant for shipping and the label is now currently voided. If you tried to void label and Ebay will not let you, label was already considered scanned and label is active even though its voided which means you lost your postage on that item. USPS will NOT refund you as label was scanned and processed. Only way you can try to refund the postage is by talking with the Postmaster at that branch and talk to him/her about the reasoning behind voiding label and go from there. They might make you fill out a form to process request to get your postage back, but its a hard sell. At least you still have the item and its not a total loss.
Just refund the whole amount to the winning buyer, and put buyer on Block bidder list afterwards. Learn from mistake.
Sorry this happened just learn from it and move on.

Refund the buyer minus all fees you paid up to this point.
IF you get back the label fee then you can refund them that portion also at that time.

If the shipping was already scanned, you won't be able to get it refunded.
