I took a few days off..had my store on time away. I had a customer who was interested in an item I was selling who when she tried to send me a message this is the response she said she received.
“We're sorry we couldn't find an answer for you. Unfortunately due to the high volume of messages this seller receives, they are unable to respond to your specific question right now. We suggest reviewing the item again to see if your answer is in the seller's listing."
She was offended by this message, as she felt “I couldn’t be bothered” does anyone have a clue how she received this. I have no reason to not believe here, as she is a repeat customer.
Thanks.

Yeah, sounds like either a) technical issue where eBay showed that message when they shouldn't have or b) buyer got that message trying to contact a different seller but thought they were contacting you - easy mix-up when buyer is shopping multiple items.

You might have messages setting turned "off" to not allow buyers to message you. Check your settings to see if you can find that out. And apologize to your customer for eBay having displayed that when she tried to message you.

Sounds like you have messaging turned off.
Check your settings on this page:
https://www.ebay.com/cnt/ManageBuyerCommunication
Edit: Never mind. After re-reading, I realize buyer could not message you on Time Away, but could message you after your vacation ended.
There's an auto-response message that can be set up during Time Away, but I don't see an option to disable messages within the Time Away settings.

I have messages turned on, and had put in there something stating I was available to read and respond to all messages. It was strange.

Totally agree. I checked all my settings and everything was correct, and there is no record of this message in my messages. However when she sent me the one that I posted here, that does show, and of course I responded and she did buy the item.
