Business practices

Let’s phase it folks Ebay is not the same as it was at 1999 back then we could buy sell exchange bid and purchase things at the prices that we knew were what we paid for and we got paid if we were selling in the right manner now, it fees gone up so much and hidden fees, and the promoting your deal to get just charged more when it seems like they’re basically removing your items are not letting them be seen unless you promote so they can make more money. This is all about Ebay anymore. They don’t care about the customers they don’t care about our bitters or sellers. They just want more money and what they’re doing is beyond shady I am so sick of Ebay I’m sick and tired of. They’re taking money from us the sellers and taking items from us as well because they are not making enough money  I’m done with this crap. I think it’s horrie Think they have to sneak something over on us just to make more money.  Why can’t the old Ebay come back whom I love doing business with and we’re good about their policies and they actually paid you and you got the items you bid on and it wasn’t overcharged and hidden fees and being charged 30% to sell something if you promote it, that’s ridiculous Ebay you should be ashamed of yourselves

When I was bartending I would give customers with the hiccups bitters with lemon.

Re: Business practices

Let's phase it, ebay does care more about bitters than sellers.

I agree with the OP.

Wonder if thats what Justin Timberlake had last night before his arrest, along with his 'one martini'.

Isn't that the reason you're here?

How much profit are you making on your yard sale and thrift shop finds?

Aren't you doing the same thing as Ebay, making money any way you can?

What hidden fee's are you talking about?

They are pretty upfront about all their fee's.

Have a great day.

On these boards, unfortunately it's not even close.

Re: Business practices

1999?
Stores not in Search

Fee for listing.

Fee for pictures.

Payment by  mail (unless the seller was a business with a merchant card account)

Bounced checks

The Western Union scam (which had nothing to do with WU)

Feedback could be left without a purchase.

OTOH

Postal rates were lower.

We could use LetterMail to ship internationally.

Registered Mail worked internationally.

Gotta give Kudos for correct Capitalization usage.

I can tell that they're hoarding exclamation points, though, and not letting any of 'em go.

Re: Business practices

I agree.

Sales are down

They're pushing sponsored ads and offsite ads to get more fees from sellers.

they pages are littered with advertisements , makes buying aggravating.

I have never promoted an item, and I get sales on all six of my selling accounts.

Re: Business practices

EBay is a business and their job is to maximize their value to their shareholders nothing more. There are no "hidden fees" everything is spelled out in the Fee schedule. As for promoted listings that is a seller choice it is NOT mandated. You have choices these days and there are 100's of ecommerce platforms you can sell on including local forums many of which have no fees.

     As for 1999:

1. The Dow was just over 10,000

2. Gold was $279 and ounce

3. Gas cost $1.30 a gallon

4. Bill Clinton was President

5. The World Trade Centers were still standing.

6. Y2K was a major concern.

7. Tiger Woods won his first PGA championship

8. The EURO was introduced

9. Woodstock 99 took place

     Nothing remains the same.
