Basic Store, explain this it to me?

So I've recently thought about getting a store plan. I'm looking at the basic 1,000 listings. So, does this mean if I list 1,000 total for that month. That's my limit? As I sell and continue to list, but not go past 1,000 monthly because I will be charged a fee? What confuses me is that it says 1,000 listings monthly okay, but it's not really on top of my already 1,000 listings.  If I go over my 1,000 listings monthly, I would be charged, correct?  So really my store wouldn't have more than 1,000 listings unless I pay for more items. It's 1,000 total and that's including my already listed items that do not sell. Am I understanding this correctly? Thank you.

Re: Basic Store, explain this it to me?

Each month you can list 1,000  in any category + 10,000 in specific categories + 250 auctions in specific categories.  Every time you start a listing or it renews on its renew date, it counts as one listing. If you start 100 listings on July 1 then on August 1 the renewed listings will count as 100 listings for August.

It has nothing to do with whether or not it sells or not, it counts as a 'free' listing when it starts or renews. Does that help?

Keep in mind that your listing limits won't increase just because you have a store so if eBay allows you to list $5000 a month, that number will still stand.

If you have a Basic, Premium, Anchor, or Enterprise Store, you can only use your zero insertion fee auction-style listings allocation in the following categories:

  • Antiques
  • Art
  • Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
  • Coins & Paper Money
  • Collectibles
  • Dolls & Bears
  • Entertainment Memorabilia
  • Health & Beauty
  • Jewelry & Watches
  • Pottery & Glass
  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop
  • Stamps
  • Toys & Hobbies

Select categories for fixed price listings

You can use your 'select categories' fixed price listings allocation in the following categories:

  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop > Sports Trading Cards
  • Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games
  • Collectibles
  • Music
  • Books & Magazines
  • Movies & TV
  • Video Games & Consoles > Video Games
  • Stamps
  • Crafts
  • Home & Garden > Greeting Cards & Party Supply > Party Supplies

Re: Basic Store, explain this it to me?

@thriftytrail  ebay counts sold listings as listings towards your monthly total. We were confused at first because we would see how many active listings we had, then create more listings based on that. But we were getting charged listing fees so I came here for help. So if you sold 200 listings in the 1 month time frame, those will still count toward your total listings monthly limit. As @pjcdn2005 any listing, new or renewed in that 1 month counts, so those sold listings were active during that time.

Do keep in mind that you are still limited to whatever listing limits you currently have. Adding a store will not give you additional listings.

Re: Basic Store, explain this it to me?

Think of it as 1,000 free insertions. It doesn't matter how many listings are active at any point in time.  You get to use 1,000 free insertions during each month, either for new listings, relists, or when a fixed price listing rolls over.  It's basically the same process as with using the 250 free insertions that you get as a non-store.

A Basic store also gets an additional 10,000 free insertions each month in selected categories, which include Collectibles and Toys. So your listings in those categories would not be deducted from the 1,000 allotment.

As noted in the other post, you should check your listing limits before you plan any expansion, since signing up for a Store will not affect those limits.

So if you continue to list

That was great, you need to write one for policies.

Just my Two Cents...
