Why is eBay allowing the sale of baby formula? Sellers are price gouging and the obviously are a big part of the shortage issue. eBay should be permanently shut down for this.

Actually the sellers should be shut down. Ebay will catch up to them sooner or later and the best thing you can do is report the item citing price gouging. I looked at a few listings, but honestly I don't know what the normal price is for baby formula in this day and age.
Here's a link if this helps:

PS I found this link so Ebay is aware of what's going on:

I agree with CKIM; it is the sellers who should be held accountable, not the platform. In addition, I disagree the gougers are a BIG part of the shortage.

Well, eBay is a platform based on capitalism, just like the United States is a capitalist society, and you are spouting communist philosophy. So, perhaps you should remove yourself from ebay and find another platform. "Price gouging" is a term made up by communists. We call it supply and demand here in the USA.

The normal price is dictated by the market, supply and demand. So it is whatever people are willing to pay for it, and not what OP thinks it ought to be.

Unless this person is hoarding 90% of the entire baby formula supply in their basement, you have other options and do not have to buy from them. If their prices are that high, they will be forced to lower them if they want to sell any, and we don't have to have you keep watch or tattle on anyone

Hi- If there was no shortage, would you know what the going price would be give or take? It's been a while since I've had to purchase any.

Price gouging policy:
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/price-gouging-policy?id=5106
Reporting policy violations:
"If you see a listing that violates one of our policies, report it via the Report item link in the listing.
If we determine that a listing or product has violated a policy, we email the seller and the bidders or the buyer to let them know that we've removed the listing or product from eBay."

...if all the mothers go back to the old time with breastfeeding, those formula companies will file bankruptcy...
...btw, a can of formula before this shortage was between $28 to $36 depends on brands...

...breastfeeding is better...babies can inherit the special enzyme from the mother's milk that helping their brain cells develops stronger and faster that any formula could provide...
...breastfeeding can prevent ear infection, choke, diarrhea, constipating happen to children...babies with breastfeeding grow stronger and healthier, less being obese...kids with breastfeeding tend to be easier in discipline, well-behavior, getting closer to families, especially their moms...
...and for a mother, breastfeed her babies will somewhat contribute a significant portion in preventing breast cancer...

This nonsense has been debunked plenty of times. Please don’t cite 1950’s science.

...I'm sorry, I gave you incorrect information...
...before the Covid and this shortage, the can of baby formula was from $17 up to $30 the most...
...during the Covid, it was just a slightly up to level of $20 to over $30...
...between the two popular brands, Enfamil and Similac, Enfamil's price is couple bucks higher...
(...I give my young fellas co-workers whom expecting baby either a box of diapers or gift cards from WalMart for baby formula...)

Luckily, nobody is 'forced' to buy from any seller they don't want to.
If they don't buy, the seller can't sell. So simple.
