Noticed today that on the View Item page in the Feedback module for some sellers eBay is showing an average message response rate.
It's not showing for all sellers and I'm not sure what the criteria is - I don't think it's only for sellers that are particularly fast because I'm seeing anywhere from 1 hr to 24 hrs.
devon@ebay kyle@ebay - any insights on this you can share?

Just don't hurt yourself in the process. Not answering or delaying answering by any significant time will only hurt you and will do nothing to change Ebay's mind on thisHonestly, I had no idea what you meant by that. I was just trying to address what I thought you meant. The quote of mine you used was actually about landlines & answering machines. It was out of context so I thought possibly you misunderstood. That's why I was explaining about phone calls. it's as simple as that.
Never said you thought I wasn't a good seller. Also I've written several posts on this thread. I've been in complete agreement with you this whole time. Didn't like this new change at all. Can't be online 24/7. It's good they're going to add "estimated time."
There is a lot of miscommunication going on here. Some by taking what I said the wrong way mixed with a little of trying to read between the lines along with me making better word choices.
I'm not going to comment further as I think it would just make this worse. I have no desire to do that. 😍

I am on my computer and use Chrome. I can see everyone's communications response time that I've looked at. Including my own, which reads "Usually responds within 24 hours". Which is total bunk. I respond to questions/messages as soon as I see them.
UNLESS THIS: I got a message when I was out-and-about and responded using my phone. When I got home and turned on the computer, I see I have an item with a question. I went to that item, and it is the one that I responded to earlier. So, I went to see if there was a different question, there wasn't, and it wouldn't let me go to the question (kept getting that error that the message was over 90 days old) the notification stayed there (even though I answered it) until this morning when I finally ended that listing. Could that be why my response time is 24 hours ?!?!?!

Yours says you respond within 1 hour.

That is great news. They got in changed faster than I certainly expected in respect to saying "usually responds".
I've cleared my cookies and cache, I use Chrome. I shut down my computer [I use a desktop] and I still can't see mine. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place??!?!?
FYI I can't see yours either!

It will be harmful to sellers. We will now get negatives because we don't respond withing a timeframe ebay says we do.
THANKS AGAIN EBAY FOR THIS.

I just went to look at some of my own listings and I see that the Respond message isn't on all of them.
In order to see what we are talking about I have copied what mine looks like. Open one of your listings, scroll towards the bottom of that page until you see your store name and this appear just below that and above your Detailed seller ratings (feedback numbers).

LOL, too funny ... took me a second. Yeah, they're not prying it out of my hands either. We're not the only ones. I bought a new landline on AMZ & there were well over 2,000 reviews! So we still have lots of company. I'm just a big technophobe. I can relate to "took me a month to activate it." Whenever I get a new device, I sit & look at it for awhile as well. A long, long while 🙂
We're probably doing ok for the "geezer " crowd. Doing ebay, we have some skills! Early on I was better than a lot of people. I was always telling my buyers step-by step how to use paypal. I would type it out for them. But I just haven't progressed that much to my disapointment. Still, we're probably somewhere in the middle. I know a lot of folks that still don't own a computer (surprising) & lots of folks that are much more computer literate than I am.
Yep, someone in the middle, which is just fine.
Good luck with the cell phone. It just takes practice, I tell myself as well. 😊

THANK you. That ends the mystery for me. I can see mine when I do that. IDK about all my listings, but what I tested I could see it. If you aren't seeing it on all your listings, they are likely still rolling this out. Because mine still say RESPONDS, not Usually Responds. So it should all be update in the next day or two.
Still VERY fast for them as it was only yesterday that we had a discussion with them and they agreed to change it. So much better with the word Usually in front IMHO.

@legalbeagle52 and @gloryglorygifts
My kids and husband for that matter, laugh at me all the time about this kind of stuff. I've always said that my darn phone is smarter than I am. I do fine with the basic functions, but I do nothing fancy with my phone, I'm confident it would get me in trouble and I'd like spend money when I had no intention to do so. LOL
My husband just shakes his head at me. When I have an issue with computer or my phone, I just tell him to go fix it, well in a nice way of course. He is a techy after all. That is what he does for a living. Nice to have him around for a countless number of reasons but to have my own personal techy is fantastic.
08-26-2023 06:39 PM
@gwens*4saleitems* I followed the instructions where to find it and I don't see it. Maybe we can't see our own??
08-26-2023 06:55 PM
That is wonderful to have your husband to help! That would be a dream of mine to have a techy around. I call my daughter when I need help but she just says "Mom, I'm not good at that stuff either." It's just not our thing. They laugh at me too. But people's minds work in different ways. Mine just does not mesh with technology, at all. Like you, I'm ok with the basics, but for me, just barely! My daughter just got me a new cellphone. It makes my head spin, so much on there.
My son-in-law is a techy too. I was so happy when they got married, besides being a lovely guy, he's someone in the family that can help. He's been a software engineer at Hulu & Disney, but they live in California & I'm across the county. I do ok day- to- day but when I have an issue I get frantic, esp. if I have items listed.
So I'm waiting for my 6 yr. old grandson to help. I'm know he will surpass grandma's skills very soon ... it wouldn't be hard LOL. Well I'm done for the evening ... have a good night! 😴

I did a test and you can't see that on every listing. I checked on at least 6 of my own and it was only on half.
Go to one of your current listings and scroll down that page towards the bottom and when you see your store name or your User ID it's just below that and above your Detailed seller ratings, then your feedback is to the right of the screen.
This is what mine looks like.

For what it is worth I can see yours. I popped into your listing # 184709801576 and then dropped all the way to the bottom. Yours are like mine and haven't updated yet to read Usually Responds, it just says Responds.

"So I'm waiting for my 6 yr. old grandson to help. I'm know he will surpass grandma's skills very soon ... it wouldn't be hard LOL. "
I had a very good laugh about this as it brought make a memory that nearly floored me. Both my kids are young adults now. Proud to say good productive people with great careers going for themselves. One day when they were visiting our Son started talking about one of his friends daughters. At the time she was about 6. He just adores here. He has always been great with little people.
The out of the blue he said, you know Mom, I'm not going to let my kids have a Cel Phone until they are about 13 or so like you did. I almost hit the floor. Both kids fought me hard about having a cel phone. Then when they got one I didn't let them have texting or internet for quite a while.
Just a silly little story, but it was fun to think about it again.
