I have been selling for 11 years. I have always listed auction style 7 days. Last November when selecting sell similar (In the create listing page the little tab that said auto relist went away. So now after listing my item ends in 7 days (I have used all of my 250 listings) Everything I am selling has ended in the first week of the month and I have no free listings left,

The option to automatically relist an auction-format listing if it doesn't sell, up to 8 times, is only available for "new and occasional sellers". eBay doesn't define exactly what that means, but if you don't have the relist option available anymore, then you aren't considered a new or occasional seller any more.

You're correct, that the automatic auction relists did not count towards your free-insertion-fee listings each month. The automatic renewing of a fixed-price, good-til-canceled listing does count, but not if the listing is an auction-format.
I took a look at your sales, and it looks like all of them sold for the opening price. There were a few that got 2 bids, but they were from the same bidder. In that case, you would be better off to use fixed-price listings, and they will automatically renew once a month, on the same day as they were started. That way, your items would stay available for purchase without using more than one free-insertion-fee listing each month.
Your other option is to open a basic-level (or higher) store, in order to get more free-insertion-fee listings, but most of them are for fixed-price format only, so you would still want to start using fixed-price listings.

Auto relist or not, you will pay for the relisted item. Whether you manually relist or sell similar or it's done automatically, it counts as one of your 250.

Looking at your sold items, you're only getting 1 bid.
If you're having to relist so many items, why not do away with auctions and list as a fixed price?

It appears I am no longer considered an occasional seller so the feature went away. However in the beginning of February I was ill advised on how to handle. I followed their direction and now I will sit out the month of February because I relisted 250 items auction style. I have no free inserts left. I will be relisting fixed price with the option of make an offer.

yes it appears I should have done this then I would have 250 active listings. I followed supports direction and it cost me a time out with nothing active
