Auto Relist charge a fee?

If I am just a standard seller who plans to list exactly 50 items each month to utilize my free 50 listings, and I have those listings set to relist automatically when they expire. Will I be charged for the relisted items since I've already used my 50 free posts? It says in the original listing it will "relist automatically up to 8 times for free". So I'm wondering if they are saying the relisting "service" is free or the relisting post itself is free. I have about 25 items set to expire in a few days and I'd rather not have them all relist and charge me if thats how it works.

Re: Auto Relist charge a fee?

I hope you are able to get a definitive answer to this question before you need it. Your listings are very nice, but not very profitable even if sold at the BIN price. A relisting fee on this low margin is a real killer.  Very quick math shows a net profit of $3.06 on any one of them if they were acquired for free. One return or lost shipment will destroy any gain for 4 or 5 more sales and you will be working for free. It's too bad, you have some nice collectible items, but this the reality of selling online.

Re: Auto Relist charge a fee?

I'm not that familiar with auctions but here is some info from the ebay help pages:

We charge an insertion fee (or count it as a zero insertion fee listing) for the original auction-style listing. If you're a non-business seller, the automatic relists are free. If you're selling on eBay as a business, we charge an insertion fee (or count it as a zero insertion fee listing ) each time the item is relisted.

The way that I read it you won't be charged for automatic relists if you are a non business seller.

Re: Auto Relist charge a fee?

The Quick version of the listing form does have a provision for relisting auction-format listings for free.  If you aren't sure whether you trust this provision, then set up one auction, then wait a few hours (or a day) before you list the rest, so you can see whether the relist of that first one was indeed free. Or since you have 25 already set up, be on hand to check your invoice when the first one relists, so you can cancel the rest of them..

Re: Auto Relist charge a fee?

FYI -

My first unsold listing expired today and relisted. I checked immediately under the fees section of "My Account" and the only thing showing there were final value fees for my sold items. I also went in as if I was revising my relisted item to see if it displayed any fees at the bottom where I would normally submit the changes.

I didn't see anything either place to indicate it was charging a fee for the relisting. So in that case if you have 50 free listings each set to auto relist 8 times - I always do the 10 day duration on my listings - that gets you basically 90 days at no cost for your item to sell.

Re: Auto Relist charge a fee?

When they auto-relist does it subtract from your free 50 each time? Or are you listing your free 50 each month and still have the free auto-relisted items?
