Auto Relist & Vacation

I just started selling some items again and found the auto relist feature is on all of them.  I have a couple of questions

My listings all end next Sunday.  That means they would auto-relist on that date and end a week later.  I will be on vacation when they end the second time.  I know I can extend my handling time, but it would be for more than a week before I can ship after the auction ends.  For example, My auctions all end on March 17 but I won't be able to ship until March 25.

I have about 40 items that might be auto relisting and I originally listed them using the 50 free promotion which ends on March 1.  Will it be extended?

I know I can turn off auto relist, but from what I can see, using the classic interface, it has to be done one by one.  Time consuming, to say the least.

Is  there anything else I can do?

Auto Relist & Vacation

Go to manage store > Vacation settings > Turn vacation settings on at the moment you know you will no longer be able to ship an item. Be sure to write a nice reason/update/date you will return in the large message box. Then VERY IMPORTANT PART---------Check the box just below that says "Keep buyers from buying your fixed priced listings while you are on vacation". Do not forget this part. Your items are still searchable and viewable but they can not be purchased leaving you hanging out to try unable to ship. Your ad is still getting attention. I just got back from vacation yesterday and shipped an item that someone sent a message to me asking when it would be available. Still found a buyer but kept me from late shipping.

Quick help incoming. How to find vacation settings.

Click Selling--scroll down bottom left to manage store---scroll down to bottom left to vacation settings---scroll down to turn vacation settings on, just under that is messages to leave, just under that is do not allow buyers to purchase fixed priced listings. Be sure to click Apply at bottom of page.

Goodluck.

Auto Relist & Vacation

If i'm reading this right you have auction items listed or are they Buy it now listings?

It is my understanding that if they are auction items they will still be open and can still be seen and are at risk of being sold while you are gone. If this happens be aware that I am pretty sure you will get dinged on tracking uploads. This is not good if you have several sales while you are gone.

I could be wrong on this but you better find a way to protect your account!!!

Hopefully someone else can help you.

Dennis

As Grandpa always said. If you want to open a small business, just open a large one and wait awhile!!!!

Since you don't have a Store you can't put your items On Vacation, which is a perk of Store owners.

With 31 active listings a Store is not economic for you.

Just close everything.

EASY.png

Your listings will go to your Unsold Items for 90 days and can be reopened when you return.

You will not be reimbursed for your listing fees, which are probably zero, since you have 50 Free Listings each month.

You will be charged for your relists but again,  you have 50 Free Listings in March.

You do have one bid on one item.

Two choices.

Contact the buyer and ask if she wants the item at the current bid.

OR

Cancel the bid and close the item as before.

I know I can turn off auto relist, but from what I can see, using the classic interface, it has to be done one by one.  Time consuming, to say the least. What do you mean by classic interface? Are you on a computer or using the app from a smartphone or tablet?

Is  there anything else I can do? Yes, you can end your listings before you go and relist upon your return, which is what i do when going out of town for an extended time. I don't want to have to worry about buyers getting their items on time, or answering questions or concerns about the goods when i am in a different physical location from them. It is difficult to serve my buyers' needs if I am away, so rather than risk damage to my account standing, I end and relist.

PS--whatever you decide, have a great trip!!

The other thing you "can" do is bulk edit your listings and change the handling time to a time longer than your vacation.  Then if you wish, as your vacation continues you can bulk edit the listings shortening the handling time.

Long handling times will show up and often deter buyers, but if there is one that doesn't care about the shipping time, you'll still get a sale.

Then when you get back, change the handling time back to normal.

This is the fastest way to do things as one doesn't have to monkey around with relisting!

Thank you all. I suspect ending and relisting may be the best thing to do.

As noted, I don't have a store, and don't know how long I'll be selling. I'm doing a house cleaning 🙂
