Authentication system is a joke

The authentication system is super flawed. I am FUMING right now. Was selling my LV purse that I bought with MY own hands from the LV store, and I received notification that authentication failed. All the notes I received from the authenticator was “Unable to confirm authenticity” with nothing else. Why unable to confirm? What’s wrong with it? No notes. Nothing. Now I got a “violation of Counterfeit item policy” when I know for a fact that my bag IS authentic. It’s not right that the authenticator was unable to authenticate (and I will add—"Unable to confirm authenticity" means that they aren't saying it's fake, but can't say with certainty that it's authentic) and I’m getting doxxed for “selling counterfeit item,” I swear on my life my bag is REAL. Unless it was all a dream where I walked into the store and picked up the bag and purchased it!

Why can’t the authenticators actually authenticate the item?? or communicate with us better why the items didn’t pass and not just leave a one line note. Like, even if you know 100% the item is real, it’s 50/50 chance it’ll get returned back to you as they tell you “oops we don’t know how to tell if it’s real sorry. we won’t tell you why but we’re gonna say you violated our policy anyways”

Authentication system is a joke

Gee!

Maybe I had a Louis Vuitton dream too years ago when my new Louis Vuitton bag’s zipper broke and I had to go into the store and leave the bag to be sent back to France to be fixed.

Now the zipper is a bit irregular not 100% a perfect brand new carry on bag.

My authentic bag would never pass as Authentic now because the zipper broke back then.

I was just mildly upset about the broken zipper back then…

Never ever use the bag.  In 10 or 30 years never use the bag.

It’s too conspicuous. In my nyc neighborhood everyone loves LV the most especially the men!

So, are you saying your purchase might have actually been a dream?

Well, if ebay is deciding I have a counterfeit item, then maybe that’s the case! 🙄

Not to mention, having a receipt is way more beneficial than swearing on your life that it's real.

Of course I don’t have the receipt. I bought it a couple years ago, and it’s been used. Isn’t that the job of the authenticator to assess if it’s real or not? Or tell us why it didn’t pass? Didn’t think a receipt was needed, if so then I guess we don’t need the authenticator anymore.

Yes, saving receipts for high dollar items is a better idea than relying on "authenticators" from a company that can't even provide a competent customer service department

If there were any repairs(even through LV) or if it happens to be one of the LV custom Artisan series it will fail every time.

Definitely learned my lesson and how they operate (terrible)🙄 And yes, agree about the customer service part. I contacted them after I received my notification and they were atrocious.

Oh? Seriously? Mine haven’t had any repairs done, and I don’t think it’s the custom either. Mine is the braided handle locky BB handbag. But that’s strange

If you reach out to ebay, and ask to speak with the authentication department, they can give you more details.  The initial rejection is usually very vague.

Oh, I didnt know I could do that! I tried to ask for them through customer service, but they told me I couldn’t speak to anyone. But maybe because I just got a crappy customer service person. I will try again and ask for the authentication department specifically, thanks!

If it failed authentication then it’s not authentic.

Also, that “Gucci” bag you just ended is not authentic either.

@justagirl12

Or not...most of these authenticators are NOT authenticators,  but random minimum wage employees who read from scripts as to what to look for.  They don't know anything more about authentication than I do about open heart surgery.  The authentication process is severely flawed and is a common topic on this forum.  Until eBay steps up and changes it, it will continue to be flawed.

How do you know for both? Also, the email I received said it couldn’t be confirmed. Did not say it was inauthentic.

I cancelled the Gucci bag because I didn’t want to go through this again. If you’re referring to how it doesnt have the ribbon, I lost it. And it was listed in the description. I stand by my words.
