Auctions Need Their Own Search

Auction Items should have their own search & not be Included with regular listings, It would make it easier for customers to find auctions when that's what their looking for & It would reduce CONGESTION in regular listings

You're asking for further search refinements on what it already in play?

Customers already can choose see only auction-format listings on the search results page. There are at least 3 ways to do this: In Advanced Search, or using the tabs at the top of search results, or using the check box at the left of the search results page.

Yes auctions should be included in a regular search. Most buyers look at all the listings or how they have set their preferences. You have been given the help and needed to search, if not wanting to follow and just argue not much more can be said.

a listing is a listing and should come up in ANY search that the potential looker/buyer is searching...it matters not what the format until the potential buyer decides what it should be.. FIRST & foremost it's the item they are searching for, not the format..then they define/refine their search under the BUYING FORMAT which can be narrowed to: All listings/Accepts Offers/Auction/Buy It Now

and yes, when I do a search for an item and want to check out what items are under auction format, that option is there...auction format CAN be selected.

Perhaps I am an anomaly as a buyer, but when I'm searching for a particular thing, I want to see every listing for that thing, auction, BIN, whatever.

For instance, there's a particular brand of shoes I buy.  Have bought from sellers via auction, have bought from some sellers via FP, IPR.  

But I want to see ANY listings for those shoes.  See what I mean?

But then you (anyone) would run the risk of your items not searching when they otherwise would have.  I don't need my search results halved because someone picked auctions or BINS. 

Plus, that's too easy to do anyway, we don't need to further a messed up search.

My Point is when you pull up a search, Auctions & Everything are all there, It's a Clustered MESS, Auction Items should only come up when you click on auctions period, Allowing a better view of sellers items who actually pay extra for stores & promoting should be seen first & Foremost

     As a buyer I really don't care if it's an auction or a BIN item. I am shopping looking for the best value and I want to see everything without having to search two separate areas. Besides a lot of auctions also have a BIN option on the listing.

     It's the sellers choice to pay the extra's for eBay services as a seller I choose not to head down that road.

That is exactly how things work for me when I click on the "Auctions" button on a search results page, at the top of the page or on the left side of the page. Then only the auctions will be displayed.

The default is "All Listings", because that is exactly what most users want and expect to see. Clicking on "Auction" will show you only the auction results, if there are any available for that search.

Most eBay listings are not auctions; currently only about 15% of listings are auction listings. eBay is unlikely to hide an average of 85% of the search results from appearing by default, though, unless a user specifically selects that "Auction" option when searching.

@meme6253   I don't agree with this because I think in many cases Auctions are used on items that there are fewer of on the site.

Could this all stem from lack of sales and seeing the few items in the category(s) being used, listed as auction and little lower starting price, as a threat or reason for lack of sales?

A default search by its nature, is one that includes everything unless the user has its setup to their parameters. It is up to the buyer to pick from that what they want to view. Not much different then loading a program on the computer, once it's loaded, the operator sets it how they want it. 

Why should anyone that only sells a few items a year or month, have any less exposure than someone that has a paid for store and is getting other perks? The person with no store, could be paying higher FVFs. Would you put the ones that have a free basic store on the same level as ones that don't have a store or ones that pay for the store subscription?
