It's been a rough day so I am probably just wanting to vent a little, but are you guys seeing more returns? I have had a ton of returns lately, ALL are buyer changed their mind, 2 were new and sealed items and I got them back opened(i did do a partial refund), the rest were just didn't like. I wasn't thrilled way back when when we had to offer free returns, but I really didn't see many more and I was like OK, ebay is right. Lately it's getting ridiculous. I get it that to stay competitive we have to do it, but I am not a retail store that can absorb all there free shipping costs. Just frustrated...

I have been selling on/off since 1999, never had a return. A month or two back, two returns - in the same week. Didn't make me happy.

I think, with everyone buying online now, word is getting around about how easy it is to buy on Ebay, check out the product and return it no charge if you don't want it.

I've been selling on this platform for many years and can count on one hand the amount of returns I've had in all those years. I looked at your listings and I believe it is the categories that you choose to sell in. Clothing is way up there in the returns category. Sizes change depending on manufacturers, colors look different in person from monitors, clothing looks different once worn on your own body vs how it looks on a hanger....

Because you have "free shipping" and "free returns" on many of your items...customer will have more returns (they don't have any skin in the game).

You don't have any listings and your claim is dubious at best.

You've been lucky if you've only had two. If you mean 'legitimate' returns, that is another story entirely but the amount of scammers on this platform is very high.

Yes, most of mine are for reason "Wrong size / didn't fit" and my all-time favorite:
"You sent me the wrong size!"
Here is the problem, in most of these cases I packed the product myself and I know I sent the ONLY size I have! So the other day another buyer pulled the "I received the wrong size" one and I am beside myself trying to figure out where the error is happening because the buyer got exactly what they ordered!!! Did the manufacturer change something?
In this case the item had a rather unique alphanumeric part number so I did a search for that part number through google and lo and behold what did I find?
Here's more:

Returns are rare for me, even with clothing. I've been blessed with honest buyers that will foot the bill on a return if they don't like it or it doesn't fit.

Hi, I have had more returns than normal but I NEVER offer free shipping. Some people increase the price of the item to compensate for the shipping and then say FREE SHIPPING, so then if a return is requested you return the total amount of original invoice which includes the original free shipping, which means you are giving them the original shipping charges back. NO, my listing I ask price I want for the item and buyer always pays the original shipping and if they wish to return they pay the return shipping as well. I refund price of item ONLY. I provide all measurements on any clothing I sell.
Example: Had a lady buy a pair of used jeans for $10.00 (brand name, mind you) with tax & shipping she paid just over 20.00 for total. She claimed jeans did not fit, wanted to return, I said no problem, so instead of taking a 10.00 loss on the jeans she actually spends more total on the original shipping and return shipping than she did on the item itself, GO FIGURE. I myself would have just kept the jeans and donated or gave to someone who could possibly use them. It is what it is, lol.

I sold a very expensive Mens shirt to a buyer. The shirt is NWT. Three weeks later this guy opens a "defective" case. In the comments he writes, this is a beautiful shirt and it fits me perfect but I feel that it does not "compliment my complexion". So he gets a free label that I have to pay for and God knows what if anything is coming back to me.

We're not seeing more returns but we are seeing more NO pays.
We've had as many in the last 2 weeks as we usually see in half a year.

I get about 1 shirt a month that someone wants to return for whatever reason. So far they have all came back in same condition they left in. A few of them never get shipped back & I suspect those people were just hoping I would auto refund them without a return. I notice most the items you sell are a bit higher value so I'd expect the buyers are being a bit more picky maybe. You can compensate for this by raising all your prices slightly to cover those return costs. Typically 25-35 cents price increase per item sold will cover all returns over the period of a year.
