When searching today so many different items are showing up other than the words I am typing in. I am only looking for specifically what I am typing in. I don't want to see a bunch of other random things. Anyone else experiencing this?

I appreciate the offer. Nothing in particular. I research items before I list them to get an idea of price.

If you're searching for nothing in particular, it's not surprising your search is bringing back a bunch of random things.

Not so much but when I search I search by exact words any order and rack and stack by price + shipping lowest first.

Provide a sample of what you are searching for.
In general when you use the Lowest Price or Highest Price filters the results can a bit wonky but that should only reduce the number of listings you see not affect the actual search words.

Yes nothing we can do about it, Ebay includes other items to try to entice us to look at those.

All the time.
If I wanted to look at those other items, I would search for them.
When I'm searching, I want to see what I'm searching for, not what Ebay wants to show me.

Out of the 130 listings from the search below there were only a couple of odd items in the mix but that was because they were listed in the wrong category.

Yep, I find the search really frustrating. I use it to get comps, and hate weeding through all the sponsored listings that are NOT what I’m searching for. Example: Replacement 6 qt work bowl for a Kitchenaid Lift Mixer. No mater what order I put the words in, I get more irrelevant listings than relevant ones. Of the first 60 listings shown to me only 4 were what I asked for.

Search is pretty bad now. Has been for a while. Promoted listings isn't helping any
I search for a certain book almost daily and if it has the title of the book in the title it just won't show up so I have to search a few different ways. Years ago it would always show when I searched the title. I have " Denver map" saved as a search and every morning there are hundreds of shirts, coins and everything else that doesn't even have the word "map" in title or description. eBay points you where they want to.

Try this:

Here's what I'm seeing. I did a search within my own store to see if I have an item listed. I get one result. That tells me I should list another version of this first day cover.
Then I do the very same search in Sellers Hub and get a result of 5 different listings. That tells me I already have a listing for the one I want to sell and should just add it to the quantity on that listing.
So what's happened to me is that I trusted the first search and added duplicate listings.

I've also seen sellers use keyword spamming, which mucks up search results.
