Another day another SCAM

Sold a $600 amp and shipped it GSP.  I didn't want to risk it getting damaged so I brought it to UPS and had them professionally pack it and insure it for the full amount of $700.  The buyer took a picture of a TOTALLY DIFFERENT item and claims he didn't get what he ordered.

I'm requesting a photo of the box and label from the buyer.  Is there any chance ebay sent him the wrong box and what if they did not.  What if the buyer is trying to pull a scam?

His reply is

"Yodel is the problem I think .Very bad company I’ve lost an item with them back in 2014. What should we do?Do you want me to go to police this end happy to do so if it helps.Check out yodel uk for reviews you’ll get an idea of the kind of company they are."

Hmm, now, the buyer knows the cops here in the UK can't do anything, and wouldn't even be interested, so I know the buyer won't go to the police.

Hmm, and the buyer has asked you to look at Yodels reviews, and informed you they are not all that great, which is actually true. So, has the buyer used Yodel to back up the buyers story ?

Do you have any proof that Yodel delivered the item ?

I'm suspicious about the buyer..

Re: Another day another SCAM

The buyer sent me a picture of the item they received.  I wanted to play detective myself and see if a similar one went though gsp.

1: The item that was pictured has the serial number scratched out.

2: The item he received has a UK plug

The item they received was about 10 pounds.

If you don't have the Yodel tracking number, find it using your GSP UPAA tracking number, e.g.
https://parceltracking.pb.com/app/#/dashboard/UPAAB000000...

Then, using the Yodel tracking number, look for the weight at the bottom of this page, e.g.

Global ShippingProgram.

If it got to Kentucky without a problem, you are off the hook.

Put that information in the dispute.

Ask that the dispute be closed.

Re: Another day another SCAM

The GSP will repack items, in a rush, on the production line, when the Seller does not have enough information in the invoice for GSP to assess the value of the item or the origin of the item for the destination country's import fees.

Often badly.

Since I gather this was going to the UK, and the US has no Free Trade agreements with them, both would be important. Also UK  sales tax (VAT) is around 17% of declared value.

But an amp is pretty bulky. It's hard to imaginge that the guy on the line either had another amp available to pack in error or packed something entirely different in the box. No matter how fast he is being required to work.

The item that left UPS was 44 pounds and insured for $700.  The item they received was about 10 pounds.

Ummm.

But it sold for $600?

And you insured it for $700?

What was the declared value?

That might be the original problem right there.

Re: Another day another SCAM

@holsteinatlanta, did you use the website yet to find the true weight of your package on the Yodel tracking number, whether it was 10 lb or 44 lb?

Re: Another day another SCAM

Not looking good. Just got email from UK rep pretty much saying too bad.

Hello xxxx

Thank you for writing back to eBay Customer Service about the amplifier (item xxxxxx) you sold to "xxxx". I'm sorry to hear that your buyer opened a case claiming that the item they received does not match what was advertised on your listing. I understand that you do not agree with the buyer's reason for sending the item back. Please be assured that I will thoroughly give you an update about this claim.

Before I proceed, I would like to let you know that we appreciate your effort in providing the best service to your buyers and we know how challenging it is to be a seller. I’d also like to thank you for taking your effort in resolving this issue by communicating with your buyer first.

xxxx, I've thoroughly re-investigated this case and I saw that the reason why we placed this case on hold for 5 days, is because the buyer's claim is valid. Please note that we treat a buyer’s reason for returning the item as valid, when they claim something that is not indicated on the listing.

Having this situation, I know that you are a highly responsible seller and you posted the item in a perfect state, though I am still humbly advising you to rectify this matter with the buyer. We kindly ask for your kind understanding and cooperation and we are encouraging you to facilitate the return of the item by issuing the buyer a return shipping label or collecting it from their place. In line with all this, once you've collected the item or once it has been returned to you, you may carefully check if it is still on the same condition before the buyer received it.

Once you've seen that the item was returned in a different state, you have the option in getting back to us so we can further be of assistance to you. Thank you for choosing eBay xxxxx. Have a great day!

Kind regards,

xxxxx

@holsteinatlanta

Call back - TELL them it was a GSP shipment and YOUR package arrived safely at the GSP hub in Kentucky and DEMAND it be transferred to a GSP specialist.
