Am I missing something here?

Please see the attached screenshots. I have a cancellation case open. Ebay tells me to refund the buyer in order to close the case, yet in Paypal the payment is pending and nowhere do I see an option to refund it.

I only have 2 days remaining, what can I do? Am I missing something obvious? There is no option in ebay for this transaction to issue a refund either.

You really need to call Ebay tomorrow and get this sorted out.

When a payment is pending, it is an Echeck through PP.  I'm glad to hear you were blocked from refunding it as you haven't received the money yet, so it would be cash from you.  

But really, call Ebay, get this fixed so that it doesn't cause even more problems for you, because it will if you sit back and do nothing or wait too long.

as  above you need to call CS. This is a flawed system and I am glad you didn't make a refund or ship while pending.

When contacting CS, if you have the option, request a callback, so you can be doing something constructive instead of waiting on hold for someone to answer.  I always do the callback and usually it happens rather quickly.

Hi, just recently there has been talk of a new scam, whereby the "buyer" pays by echeck and it shows up as Paid on ebay while Pending in PayPal. The idea is to get the seller to ship, then the scammer cancels the echeck, or it never goes through for whatever reason. The few sellers who got burned on this one say that their ebay accounts say Ok To Ship while payment is Pending in PayPal when they go to confirm. This sounds like a variation of that scam to me. Glad you caught it.

If this is happening then Ebay needs to get the OK TO SHIP icon, or the $ paid icon, in synch with Pay Pals--this is a very very bad problem and could cause a lot of grief for sellers if it is not fixed. If the payment has not cleared then there should be absolutely no instruction on Ebay side to ship.

Actually, an improvement for the seller hub would be to have a section there where Pay Pals confirmed payment shows up so that the seller does not have to go into their Pay Pal account to check these transactions. I imagine that for a very high volume seller this can be a chore.

They also need to reccomend to the CS that Ebay do something about this problem by incorporating a Pay Pal icon in the seller hub that confirms that the payment has cleared. If that can be accomplished, to remedy this.

I have heard something similar about this scam from other sellers. Some said the mobile app is giving them this kind of glitch or misinformation as well.

I may be very new to selling here on ebay, however, I learned that you NEVER ship an item until you are certain the payment is cleared through Paypal.

I will call to sort this mess out with ebay. Hopefully it will be easy to just get this cancelled out without me receiving a defect or anything else negative.

For this scam to work they would have to of hacked Ebay.  A buyer can not mark a listing paid via PP.  They can mark it paid, but NOT via PP.  Are you saying that Ebay has been hacked again?

Then it is not a scam but a serious Ebay glitch.  However if some buyers have discovered this and they are dishonest people, I can see where they could take advantage of the glitch.  But if Ebay is working on this they have the ability to ID and sanction the buyers that are doing this.

It wasn't an Ebay hacked situation (that i am aware of). Over a couple of weeks i saw 2 or 3 posts from sellers saying that their ebay had said "Ok to ship" while their PayPal payment for the transaction stated "Pending".  It was suggested that an echeck payment was a possible culprit and somehow played a role in the conflicting contradictory scenario.

Then it is an Ebay Glitch as I previously stated.  A serious one and one we all need to be aware of.  

As a matter of policy, I ALWAYS without fail verify my payments in PP before I ship anything.  I have done this since the day I started selling and I will continue to do this.  Over the years it has served me well and is worth the additional step in my shipping process.  

I have never depended upon an Ebay page to tell me what to ship and/or when.  I have always determined that myself AFTER verifying that the payment is received.
